Before we rise, we need somewhere safe to land

Retreat East Co šŸ’« provided all the external conditions we needed

We began She Speaks, She Rises with Earth.

We slowed down. We grounded. We created space for the nervous system to settle and for each woman to feel safe enough to arrive—not just in the room, but in her own body.

Because when the body feels safe enough, we can go deeper.

We can notice the familiar patterns we have been living from. We can breathe and create capacity. We can listen to our feelings and needs. We can hear what is true beneath the noise. And from there, we can choose a different way forward.

That was our journey through Earth, Wind, Water and Fire using the Somatic Intelligenceā„¢ Framework: from grounding → awareness → inner knowing → aligned action.

And what we witnessed was powerful. In partnership with Wakefully we also measured an average 37% shift across the five transformation domains assessed at the end of the retreat.

But perhaps the deepest reminder was simple:

We don’t have to force transformation.
We create the conditions that allow it to emerge.

Deep gratitude to every woman who trusted the process, and to my co-host coach_costa31 + Eronica Aljoe all the months of planing was reflected in the container we held… and to our Peruvian chef Magaly Ponce for the nourishing food that was felt deeply in every cell of our bodies

✨stay tune because She Speaks, She Rises is a movement that is expanding and we are co-creating new experiences for all of you to SPEAK & RISE šŸ¦ā€šŸ”„

What if burnout isn’t only exhaustion, but the weight of everything you couldn’t say?

Before Somatic Intelligenceā„¢ became a framework, it was the path that brought me back to myself.

I am deeply grateful to Bold Journey for inviting me to share the life behind this work—and for giving me the space to speak openly about the vulnerable experiences that shaped it.

For years, I knew how to succeed through performance: working harder, adapting quickly, carrying enormous responsibility, and swallowing what I felt.

From the outside, I was successful. Inside, my body was carrying every disagreement I did not express, every boundary I did not know how to set, and every truth I had learned to silence.

Then came burnout. Loss. Grief. Trauma. And a search for another way to live.

What began as searching eventually became a return—to my body, my voice, my roots, and my lineage.

I arrived in New York carrying grief, unanswered questions, and the need to begin again. This city became the ground where everything I had lived, studied, and practiced began to take form.

Joyful Service Corp. was born here. The Somatic Intelligenceā„¢ Framework was born here—not as an escape from my story, but as a way of alchemizing pain into purpose, grief into service, and lived experience into a path that can now support other women.

This carousel holds only a few fragments. In the full interview, I share what being the only woman of color in rooms of power taught me, the hidden source of my burnout, how ancestral wisdom and the body guided my return, and why I believe leadership is built in the nervous system.

If any of this feels familiar, there is much more beneath these fragments. The full Bold Journey interview is linked in my bio. Perhaps one part of my journey will give language to something your own body has been trying to tell you.

A special thank you to Kelly George for recommending me to Bold Journey and opening the door for this interview.

And to you, if you have stayed with me this far, thank you for offering your time and presence to this piece of my story. My intention is to inspire you to share yours 😘

JUICYā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

That was the word of our retreat—not because every moment was light, but because every part of us was allowed to be alive.

Grief. Sorrow. Shame. Guilt. Longing. Pleasure. Joy. Truth. Dance. Release.

The same body that trembled also danced.
The same voice that cracked also spoke.
The woman who arrived carrying so much allowed herself to be held.

Yes, the retreat was beautiful. But beauty alone did not create the transformation we witnessed.

What made it possible was the union of our courage and openness to do the inner work, the expertise and devotion of three facilitators, and a Somatic Intelligenceā„¢ sequence our nervous systems could trust.

Earth grounded us.
Wind gave breath and language to what had been carried in silence.
Water allowed us to feel and recognize what truly mattered.
Fire transformed truth into requests, choices, movement, and aligned action.

A special thank-you to my co-hosts, Eronica Aljoe and coach_costa31 for trusting me, and trusting Somatic Intelligenceā„¢, to provide the structure that guided and held this journey. This transformation never belonged to one person. We created it together šŸ¦ā€šŸ”„šŸ’ƒšŸ½šŸ§‘šŸ¾ā€šŸ©°

And to every Latina sister who trusted us with her heart, her story, and her becoming: thank you for answering the call.

I am still tender—digesting your loving words and acknowledgments, and allowing myself to receive the beauty of what we created.

On National Latina Day, this is the power I celebrate:

Not only carrying, but allowing ourselves to be held.
Not only enduring, but feeling.
Not only surviving, but speaking, choosing, and rising.

ā€¼ļøThis is Latina Power Embodiedā€¼ļø

✨If your body is saying, ā€œIt’s time,ā€ send me a DM to explore how the Somatic Intelligenceā„¢ framework can support you to build the internal capacity to turn your truth into the life you’re ready to rise into.

What happens when we allow ourselves to be held by other women?

On Saturday 8/8, after leading Somatic Play in Prospect Park, the easiest choice would have been to go home, open my laptop and keep working. There was so much to prepare, especially with our retreat only days away.

Instead, I got into my car and drove alone from Brooklyn to Ocean City, New Jersey. It took me almost 4 hours 🫠

Something inside me knew that once I arrived within my circle of sisters, I would be held.

They received me with nourishing home made healthy food… we spent hours making a crown of fresh flowers for our precious drum and preparing every detail for our ocean ceremony. We prayed together. We played the drum. We laughed, rested and stayed beside one another through the night until the sun rose over the ocean next day šŸŒ…

It was deeply nourishing to be surrounded by my Moon Dance sisters TLAZOHMEZTLI a circle of powerful medicine women who did not need anything from me. I could simply arrive, receive and be part of the circle.

This is how I honored the 8/8 portal: not by doing more on my own, but by choosing sisterhood, ceremony and the courage to receive.

And this was also part of how I prepared to hold She Speaks, She Rises this weekend.

Before welcoming the women joining our sold-out retreat into a space where they can regulate, reconnect with their truth and rise fully expressed, I allowed myself to receive that same medicine. I let other women hold me so I could enter this retreat nourished, grounded and supported—not carrying everything alone.

If you are the woman who holds so much and something inside you is longing to be held too

šŸ‘‰šŸ¾DM me if you would like to experience being held in a private somatic space, and I’ll send you the details. I would be honored to hold that space for you. ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

This time, release sounded like the keys of my Olivetti.

Each word gave what my body had carried in silence a place to land.

šŸ‘‰šŸ¾Content note: su***de and grief.

My friend had warned me about Every Brilliant Thing. I knew it could activate me.

The voice inside me was clear:

Whatever this touches, you are ready to release.

Under the Aquarius Full Moon, I entered the Hudson theater open to what my body was ready to reveal. I laughed. I cried. And somewhere between both, my own story entered the room.

Years ago, my partner died by su***de.

For months, I tried to support her through a mental health crisis. I did the best I could with the understanding and tools I had then. She was brilliant, highly educated and building businesses. People saw her intelligence and capacity. Very few could see the depth of what she was carrying.

Around her death came a house fire, the loss of my home and the end of my first business in the Sacred Valley, Peru.

The helplessness of being unable to save someone I loved became another loss my body carried.

I left Peru and began again in New York.

The photograph of me beneath the waterfall holds one language of release my body knows: intensity, movement, water, tears and catharsis. There were moments when this was exactly how my body needed to move.

The Olivetti page holds another language.

Writing.
Naming.
Allowing what lived in silence to take form.

This time, release arrived through laughter, tears, breath and awareness. It moved with grace. With ease. With gentleness. With softness.

Somatic practice has taught my body a wider language of release.

Release has many rhythms: the intensity of catharsis, the grace of a breath, the gentleness of a page and the softness of finally naming the truth.

This history is one of the roots of Somatic Intelligence™—creating spaces where capable, accomplished people can name what they are carrying, receive support and build greater capacity, connection and choice.

Now, on a page written with my Olivetti, a part of this story is no longer carried only by my body.

It has words.
It has ground.
It can move.

Project Healthy Minds Tracee Ellis Ross Every Brilliant Thing On Broadway thank you šŸ™šŸ½
