When you stop looking to others to prove your worth and start giving yourself permission to feel enough, your relationships can begin to change.

You are not too much.
You are not asking for too much.
You are learning to believe you are enough.

Sometimes people-pleasing is a protection pattern we learned when we believed our needs would only be met if we kept others happy.

Try asking yourself:

Is it really true that I have to please others to be loved?

Then ask:

Who would I be if I stopped?

Journal about it. Sit with what comes up. You may discover that you don’t have to earn love by abandoning yourself.

Choosing yourself means protecting your peace, setting healthy boundaries, and making space for relationships that truly nourish you.

You are not being selfish. You are growing, healing, and becoming more intentional about what you allow into your life.

Sometimes, the person you’re drawn to is a mirror.

We can spend so much time criticizing our partner for what they do, how they live, or the qualities we don’t like, without asking ourselves:

What drew me to this person in the first place?

What qualities did I admire?
What qualities am I judging now?
And what might those qualities be reflecting back to me?

Relationships can reveal parts of ourselves that are asking to be understood, healed, or outgrown.

Sometimes, when you change, the relationship changes too. And that’s okay.

What has a past or current relationship taught you about yourself? 🤍

You never have to earn love.

If you feel like you do, there may be a part of you that learned you weren’t enough unless you achieved, helped, stayed quiet, or were “good.”

Ask yourself: Where did I learn that love had to be earned?

Journal about it. Feel it. And gently remind yourself:

I am enough. I am worthy of love, exactly as I am.

Your nervous system can’t fully embrace new experiences when it’s constantly scanning for danger.

When you move out of survival mode, you create more space for connection, curiosity, presence, and choice.

Healing isn’t just about feeling better. It’s about feeling safe enough to experience life differently.

What if the ghosting isn’t just about them?

We often ask, “What did I do?” or blame emotional unavailability.

But what if ghosting is also a reflection of the ways you ghost yourself?

The feelings you avoid.
The needs you silence.
The truths you don’t want to face.

If you want to stop repeating the pattern in dating, start by coming back to yourself.

The childhood wounds.
The heartbreak.
The abandonment.
The moments you had to be strong when you really needed someone to hold you.

And somehow, you’re still here.

But you’re not just surviving anymore.

You’re healing.
You’re growing.
You’re becoming softer, wiser, stronger, and finally learning to love the woman you fought so hard to become.

You didn’t just survive it. You became someone new because of it.

What if the person you love isn’t actually the problem, but your protector self is reacting to what they said?

Sometimes feedback feels like a threat. We become defensive, justify our actions, or try to control the conversation instead of truly listening.

But there is another way.

Pause. Notice the judgment. Get curious about what’s happening inside you.

Five. Four. Three. Two. One.

That small pause can create enough space to move from defense to disclosure, from protecting yourself to protecting the relationship.

In my latest article, I explore the protector self, hypervigilance, and how changing the way we respond can change the way we connect.
