Quick update on the Galleri multi-cancer early detection blood test we offer in-office. It uses cell-free DNA to look for cancer “signals” across 50+ cancer types—but performance is strongly stage-dependent, and a recent large study did not meet its primary endpoint for reducing late-stage (III/IV) cancer incidence (the study is being extended).

My take: Galleri can still be helpful for select patients, especially as an adjunct to—not a replacement for—recommended screenings (mammogram, colonoscopy, cervical screening, etc.). The decision should be individualized based on age, risk factors, and preferences.

Educational only; not medical advice. This test does not diagnose cancer and can have false positives/negatives.

You may have seen the viral “personality changes” claims about GLP-1 medications. Here’s the evidence-based take: large studies have not shown a clear link between GLP-1 use and increased anxiety or depression. A more likely explanation is the life change itself—eating less, drinking less, shifting routines, and saying no to comfort foods can feel emotionally challenging at first.

That doesn’t mean it’s “all in your head.” It means we should treat metabolic change like the full-body process it is—nutrition, sleep, movement, support, and a personalized plan. GLP-1s can be a powerful health tool when clinically appropriate, and care should include how you’re feeling mentally, too.

For years it was one coat Funny Bunny + one coat Bubble Bath. Now OPI has done the work for us and combined the two into one perfect shade.

10/10 recommendation. ✨ SlanNYC

PMOS affects millions of women, but our understanding of it is evolving.
What was once viewed primarily as a reproductive condition is increasingly being recognized as a broader metabolic and endocrine disorder — with implications for insulin resistance, inflammation, cardiovascular health, and long-term wellness.
Thank you to CBS Healthwatch for covering this important conversation.

Love a simple, doable study—and this one delivers. A paper in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that three small daily changes were linked to a ~10% lower risk of major cardiovascular events:

✅ +11 minutes of sleep
🥦 +1 serving of vegetables
🚶‍♀️ +5 minutes of movement

No perfection required—just consistency. Want help turning this into a personalized plan (sleep, labs, metabolism, hormones, movement)?

Meet one of our favorite tools at Slán NYC: the Styku 3D body composition scanner. In about 30 seconds, it creates a precise 3D model and helps us track what actually matters for health—not just the scale:
• Visceral fat
• Body fat %
• Lean mass / muscle trends
• Waist-to-hip ratio and other key markers

Best part: the scan is included with every initial visit and every follow-up, so we can measure progress over time and adjust your plan with real data.

So what’s going on with the estradiol patch shortage—and why does it keep happening?

The good news: demand for hormone therapy has surged (more women getting care) and the boxed warning was removed in late 2025.
The bad news: there are few manufacturers, plus supply chain constraints—and a system issue that creates bottlenecks. When insurers, pharmacies, and pharmacy benefit managers are connected under the same corporate umbrella, it can restrict which versions can be dispensed and stocked, pushing patients toward higher-cost branded products.

Bottom line: this isn’t just “more people are on HRT.” It’s access, coverage rules, and low-margin generics.

What we’re doing (and what you can ask your clinician about):
• Consider transdermal gels or sprays when patches are unavailable
• Explore alternate patch strengths/dosing strategies when appropriate
• Call around pharmacies to locate stock and confirm NDCs/options

If you’re affected, we can help you pivot safely with a personalized plan.

To my perimenopausal and menopausal mamas: I see you.
The short fuse, the broken sleep, the brain fog… and still you’re showing up—packing lunches, driving to practices, making dinner, loving your kids with your whole heart.

You’re not “too sensitive” or “losing it.” You’re moving through a real transition—and you deserve support, not white-knuckling.

There’s serious news in the headlines: a hantavirus cluster linked to cruise travel is being investigated by public health authorities. Hantavirus is most often acquired by inhaling aerosolized particles from rodent urine/droppings/saliva—typically in enclosed spaces. Early symptoms can look like a “flu” (fever, body aches, GI upset), but in some cases it can rapidly progress to a dangerous cardiopulmonary phase requiring ICU care.

If you’ve recently traveled and develop fever plus shortness of breath or worsening symptoms, seek urgent medical care and tell clinicians about your travel/exposure history. For updates on this specific event, follow official alerts from WHO/CDC and local public health.

“Gray divorce” (divorce after 50) has risen significantly over the past few decades, and many women initiate separations in midlife. Why might this intersect with perimenopause/menopause? Beyond life stage shifts, some women describe a “loss of accommodation”—feeling less willing to tolerate what no longer fits—plus greater independence and clarity about what they want for the next chapter.

This isn’t about blame. It’s about recognizing that midlife is a major transition—physically, emotionally, and relationally. If you’re navigating mood changes, sleep disruption, anxiety, or “not feeling like yourself,” support can make this chapter steadier and more grounded.
