// What to do when you donât feel supported by your nearest in the changes you want to make? //
I canât tell you how many women I have worked with who have wanted to make changes to their life or mindset and have not had support from their partners or adult loved ones.
It feels hideous, I know. It feels lonely and it makes you feel trapped in a version of you that youâre trying to shed.
Lack of support looks like
- Criticism
- Attachment to your old identity âyouâll never changeâ, âyouâre the kind of person thatâŚâ. âyou canâtâ, âyou wonâtâ
- A passive, in-different relationship with the changes that youâre trying to make.
- Making the changes youâre working on somehow into something about them 𤯠(youâre not doing it for us/what about us/what about your family? â Iâve heard this one when one lady wanted to started cooking more healthy dinners!)
- Shaming and belittling
When all you want is to hear is â
âI trust youâ âIâm with youâ âHow can I support youâ âI know you can do thisâ
Being held hostage to who you were yesterday whilst also KNOWING internally there are key shifts taking place, makes the whole process a lot harder.
Iâm here to tell you that I know, I KNOW you can do it. This isnât a clichĂŠ post of âyouâve got this girlâ⌠this is a deep knowing and recognition of mine that change can happen in an instant, in one decision, by anyone about anything of any size or magnitude.
I donât care how long you have been the way you are, I donât care how many times youâve tried, itâs irrelevant to me that youâve been here before.
What I know for sure is that humanâs cannot excel, evolve, heal, recover, improve, grow without F~A~I~T~H.
What I know for sure is that SHAME is the absolute killer of faith and self esteem.
I know when I have children that no matter how many times they fall over trying to walk the words âyouâre not the kind of person that can walkâ or âwalking isnât your strong suitâ will never come out of my mouth.
I see you, Iâve got you, reach out, say hello because whatever it is, I know you can do it, I know you have it in you to make it happen, and I felt utterly compelled today to tell you that âĽď¸
