💀 This Week in Horror History
🕯 This week in horror brought us a big-screen anthology, festive Martian mischief, and one
monstrous creeper.
🎬 Nov 10–14 Flashback Frights:
1. 🎞 Creepshow (1982) — A love letter to EC Comics with panels that bleed, crawl, and
cackle. Romero’s direction + Stephen King’s twisted imagination turns every segment
into a gooey, comic-book nightmare. Tom Savini’s practical effects tie it all together with
an unmistakable 80s splatter-charm. From vengeful corpses to crate-born creatures, it’s
horror anthologized at its campiest, creepiest, most colorful best!
2. 🏰 Castle Freak (1995) — A feral prisoner stalks a crumbling Italian estate in this grim,
claustrophobic tale of secrets, screams and unrelenting dread, Optic Nerve’s vicious
practical creature work turns this dungeon nightmare into pure prosthetic terror.
3. 🎅 Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) — Santa battles Martians in a
gloriously goofy, rubber monster suit fever dream that’s so bizarre, it loops right back
around to iconic. A time capsule of George Fiala’s old-school creature crafting, proving
that even holiday chaos needs a little monster magic.
🕯 From kitschy sci-fi to gothic chamber monsters, these picks remind us that horror’s toolbox
has always ranged from foam latex and Karo syrup blood to imagination and shadow.
⚡ Which one are you queuing this weekend? 👇

🕯 Step into the crypt of cinema history, Creeps…

This week in horror brought us some absolute scream legends — from bees and
butcher knives to cursed VHS tapes. Let’s rewind (carefully 👀 ) and pay tribute
to the monsters, maniacs, and makeup moments that made movie history.

🐝 1992 ~ Candyman
Say his name (we dare you). Tony Todd’s haunting performance and the
unforgettable visuals make this urban legend horror royalty. Amazing make-up effects by Mark Coulier and crew.

🔪 1998 ~ Bride of Chucky
When doll love goes off the rails 💋 🔪 — the camp, the chaos, the
animatronics! A perfect mix of horror and humor. Incredibly expressive
puppets by Kevin Yagher Productions will make you forget Chucky and the gang aren’t real-
life actors!

📞 2002 ~ The Ring
That cursed tape changed horror forever… and made everyone terrified of static
on TV. Seven days never felt so stylishly spooky. Iconic make-up effects work by the great Rick
Baker and his world-class crew at Cinovation.

🧠 1985 ~ Re-Animator
A neon-green gore masterpiece and proof that practical FX were chef’s kiss in
the 80s. Herbert West: king of bad science and worse decisions. Make-up effects
artist John Naulin and his crew used 24 gallons of fake blood for this gore-drenched
masterpiece!

👻 1997 ~ I Know What You Did Last Summer
Wet hair. Flashing headlights. Pure 90s slasher perfection. Proof that bad
decisions make great cinema. Matthew W. Mungle and crew created some
unforgettable prosthetics for this late 90s classic.

🧟 1990 ~ Night of the Living Dead (Remake)
Tom Savini’s feature film directorial debut shines in this re-imagining of Romero’s
zombie opus. Gritty, gory, glorious. Savini handed off the make-up effects duties
to the extremely capable team of Everett Burrell and John Vulich.

🩶 Which of these nightmare babies is your favorite? Drop your pick below 👇
And tag a friend who’d totally watch The Ring again (with the lights off… for
science).
