An Indigenous Peoples’ Day Gathering
with Sápara healer Tania Montahuano Ushigua
What can we learn from people who have spent generations listening to the natural world?
Sui welcomes Tania Montahuano Ushigua, a healer, artisan, mother and wisdom keeper of the Sápara Nation of the Ecuadorian Amazon, for an evening of sharing, ceremony and connection.
Tania will share stories and teachings from her life and Sápara tradition, what it means to listen to nature, the role of dreams, what the rainforest has taught her about being human, and why protecting Indigenous knowledge, culture and territory matters for generations to come.
She will then guide us through traditional practices from her community, with guayusa and Sápara ceremony creating space to ground, reflect and reconnect.
In a city that constantly asks us to move faster, produce more and look outward, this evening asks something different: Can we become quiet enough to listen again?
To ourselves.
To one another.
To the natural world we belong to.
