I remember feeling defeated. I thought that I would never be welcomed in certain spaces because I was not normal to "their standard." When I shared my passion for social justice and wanting to be at the forefront of the fight people did not take me serious. I had a BA in Psychology and wanted to find a job aligned with my skills and education. I was repeatedly offered positions which did not require an education. Basically low level positions in the mental health field. I wanted cave in, I thought I am mentally ill and shouldn't think so "big." I did not cave in! When everyone doubted me I pushed harder. The lord eventually connected me to people and open doors. I am not defined by my disorder! We belong in the spaces we work hard to enter. No more self-defeating thoughts!
