Just like that, we wrapped in San Francisco and the energy was top tier. Several days of sessions, networking, cutting-edge research, neuroscience breakthroughs, celebrations and real conversations about the future of mental health care. This is why we show up.

As a clinician and founder, moments like these remind me why community-centered care matters on a national level. The field is moving fast. Are you keeping up?

Still trying to find the words for this honor. To receive the NYU CMEP Michael Parkes Distinguished Alum award feels deeply personal, not just because of the title, but because of the journey behind it.

Years ago, I sat in classrooms as a masters and doctoral student with big dreams, real fears, and a commitment to serve people with dignity and purpose. Today, I have the privilege of returning to those same spaces as a professor, mentor, clinician, and leader helping shape the next generation of changemakers.

There is something powerful about becoming what you once needed. This recognition is not mine alone. It belongs to every student who trusted me with their story, every mentor who challenged me to grow, every community that allowed me to serve, and every person who reminded me that education is not just about degrees but about impact.

As a professor, one of my greatest joys is watching students discover their voice, their confidence, and their calling. To now be recognized by the institution that helped shape my path is a full-circle moment I will never forget.

To every student sitting in the back of the classroom wondering if they belong: you do. To every first-generation scholar, working professional, dreamer, and late bloomer: keep going.

Purpose has a way of finding those who stay committed to the work. Grateful. Humbled. Inspired for what’s next.

If you made it through this week with emails, meetings, cold weather, side-eyes on the subway, and all, you’re already winning.

Reminder: you don’t need to have it all figured out by today by 5pm. You just need to keep showing up, looking forward, and moving like you know your moment is coming… because it is. Take up space. Order the good drink. Walk like you’ve got somewhere important to be (because you do).

Weekend mood: rest, reset, and a little bit of “don’t play with me” energy.

Every birth should be safe. Every mother should be believed. In the U.S., Black women are still far more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes not because of biology, but because of inequity in care.

Quality, respectful, culturally competent maternal care isn’t optional, it’s essential. Thank you to the APA Foundation , Bronx Alumni Kappas .nupes and Zeta Phi Beta, Kappa Epsilon Zeta Chapter for hosting a critical conversation focused on crisis intervention, education, advocacy and empowerment for Black Maternal Health Week.

A few weeks ago, I had the profound honor of offering the invocation as 1 of 3 clergy members at the Manhattan Borough President Brad Holyman-Sigal’s Inauguration and Community Convention. Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal

Standing in that space as a Deacon next to a Rabbi and Imam, surrounded by elected officials, leaders, community members, and voices full of hope, I was reminded that faith isn’t just something we practice quietly, it’s something we live out loud collectively through our service, compassion, and leadership.

As a faith leader I spoke aloud, I carried with me the prayers, dreams, and hopes of every person who believes in a more just, loving, united, and safe community. Moments like this remind me that purpose will place you in rooms you once only prayed about. Stay rooted. Stay ready. And never underestimate the power of your voice when it’s guided by faith.

Thank you to the 29th Manhattan Borough President and the entire MBP team for the opportunity.
Grateful. Humbled. Inspired.

Honored. Humbled. Grateful.
I received an award from the Mid Manhattan Branch NAACP in celebration of Women’s History Month and I’m still taking it all in.

The words spoken by the presenters reminded me that this recognition is about responsibility. A responsibility to continue showing up, speaking out, and holding space for conversations that matter, especially around mental health in our communities.

For too long, mental health has been whispered about instead of prioritized. But healing is power. Vulnerability is strength. And choosing to take care of your mind is one of the boldest acts of courage there is.

I share this award with every woman who is doing the inner work, breaking cycles, setting boundaries, seeking help, and choosing to evolve every single day. You may not always get a trophy, but your healing is revolutionary.

Let’s keep normalizing therapy. Let’s keep reminding ourselves: we deserve to be whole, too.

Thank you to the NAACP for this incredible honor and for continuing to uplift voices that drive change. This is for us.
