❤️Self Care isn’t selfish - it’s ESSENTIAL ❤️

Last week, I hosted a Moms night out event for & it was a huge success 👏🏻

Ladies were treated with complimentary lip perks (shown on me above - it’s a hydrafacial for your 💋), B12 shots & were shown a demonstration on filler for those who are curious 🫣
But besides all the goodies of the night, the main conversations we had were mostly around most women not having time to take care of themselves & how they wanted to really try to sneak it in more often.

Yes, it’s a luxurious extra to think about potions, lotions & injections but the core of it is self-care - and the effect it has on our overall well-being.
The correlation of hormones and appetite is fascinating and this one is exactly that 🪄

🤗 Oxytocin isn’t just about warm fuzzies; it’s a powerful player in appetite regulation too! Studies suggest that this love hormone doesn’t just promote bonding but also helps curb our cravings. When oxytocin levels rise—think hugs, self-care, or even moments of deep connection—ghrelin, our hunger hormone, takes a step back. 🥰🍽️

💔 On the flip side, stress can send ghrelin into overdrive, making us reach for comfort foods. But guess what? Oxytocin swoops in as our stress-buster, helping to keep ghrelin in check and cravings at bay. So, those moments of relaxation and connection aren’t just good for the soul; they’re good for the waistline too! 💆‍♀️💫

Processed foods often get a bad rap, but with a little know-how, they can still have a place in a balanced diet! Here are 3 tips to navigate them wisely:

1️⃣ Read Labels Like a Pro: Flip that package over and scan the ingredient list. Look out for sneaky additives like high-fructose corn syrup, trans fats, and excessive sodium. Opt for options with recognizable, whole-food ingredients and minimal additives.

2️⃣ Mindful Moderation: Enjoying processed foods in moderation is key. They can be convenient, but don’t let them dominate your diet. Balance is key! Incorporate plenty of fresh fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains alongside your processed picks.

3️⃣ DIY Whenever Possible: Get creative in the kitchen! Making your own versions of processed favorites allows you to control what goes in them. Whip up homemade versions of snacks, sauces, and dressings to cut down on added sugars, unhealthy fats, and artificial ingredients.

Protein Bars 🍫 or 🥦??

There are an insane 🤪 amount of protein bar options out there these days - so how are you supposed to know what’s actually good for you & what you should leave on the shelf??

Going with the most whole food options out there - ingredients you recognize, lowest sugar content and the highest protein amount is a great start for sure - but what brands do I recommend??

Here are my top 3 brands of bars I recommend almost everyday:

Energy Protein Super bar is a definite favorite of mine. With Ashwaganda root, plant protein & cordyceps mushroom this little snack with satiate and get you out of that 3pm slump!

Peanut Butter Cup Protein Bar

Making THIS on repeat lately 😋And is loaded with protein, fiber and vitamins making it the perfect post workout breakfast!!

You can modify it to your liking and for it to be more in line with your goals (low carb, GF, etc) but here’s how I make it:

🍳Heat an omelet pan on medium heat & lightly spray with Avocado oil spray
🥦Add 1/4 cup veggies of your choice (ALWAYS something green and anything else) and 1/4 cup of cooked black beans (I used what we had leftover from Taco Tuesday dinner)
🥚While that cooks a bit, beat 1 egg and 1 egg white together in a bowl (a splash of almond milk makes it a little fluffy & creamy - but that’s optional) Most days I use 3 Egg whites because I have to conscious of my cholesterol but today I’m mixing it up 🔥

👩🏼‍🍳 Add the eggs to the pan with the veggies and let cook for 3 min on Medium heat

💃🏼 Add 2tblsp salsa of your choice right in the middle (the hotter the better for me 💥)

🫔 Grab the wrap of your choice & place on top of salsa and egg omelet for an additional 2 min- I use Almond Flour wraps but if you are ok with Whole Wheat, go for it!

📁Fold your omelet closed and flip & transfer to a plate and enjoy!!!!😋😋😋
