A few years ago, metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer gained a new frontline treatment option: PLUVICTO® for use alongside androgen receptor pathway inhibitor (ARPI) therapy in patients whose cancer is PSMA-positive. In practice, that means qualifying patients no longer have to wait for hormone therapy to stop working before this option becomes available.
PLUVICTO belongs to a class of treatments called radioligand therapy. A targeting compound seeks out cancer cells throughout the body and carries a small radioactive payload directly to them — concentrating the radiation dose where the disease is while sparing much of the surrounding healthy tissue.
Getting there starts with imaging. A PSMA PET/CT scan maps where — and how strongly — PSMA appears on a patient's tumors. That map is what tells the care team whether PLUVICTO has a target to lock onto, and it's a required step before treatment can begin.
At East River Medical Imaging, we support this pathway from imaging through to treatment planning. Learn more: https://eastriverimaging.com/theranostics/
