This isn’t just milk—it’s a lifesaver.

When a child is severely malnourished, regular food can be fatal. Their body is simply too weak to process it. That’s where Therapeutic Milk comes in.

As the world’s leading specialist in treating malnutrition, Action Against Hunger uses this scientifically calibrated formula to bring children back from the brink. It stabilizes vital functions when no other food can, contributing to a 90% survival rate for the most critical cases.

In 2024 alone, this proven treatment helped us save over 574,000 children.

Hunger is predictable, preventable, and treatable.

Therapeutic milk plays a critical role in stabilizing children with severe acute malnutrition—here’s how it works, when it’s used, and what effective treatment looks like.

From the frontlines to the families rebuilding their lives, these photos capture what Action Against Hunger looks like in practice.

In a year marked by extraordinary challenges, our teams and partners have remained a steady force for good. While the landscape of our sector has shifted, our mission has not.

We have navigated uncertainty by staying focused on the essentials: saving lives, improving health, and fostering long-term stability.

There is real hope in this work, and we are proud to share it with you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

On a day centered on gratitude, we’re holding space for families who are still struggling to find food, clean water, and stability.

We remain committed to taking action — every day — until hunger is ended for everyone, for good.

Thank you for standing with us.

“That’s what Action Against Hunger really means to me. Refusing to look away. Refusing to sit by. Refusing to believe that somebody else is going to jump at the chance and, refusing to believe that any child anywhere should go to bed hungry in a world that wastes so much.” said P!nk, who received Action Against Hunger USA’s Humanitarian Award for her unwavering commitment to championing food security and health for all children at the organization’s gala on Tuesday.

The event raised over 2.1 million dollars reinforcing Action Against Hunger’s position as a global leader in the fight to end hunger.

Communications and Partnership Coordinator, Dancliff Mbura, received the Leadership Award for his exceptional work in amplifying Action Against Hunger’s impact and showcasing the power of lasting change.

Our partner, Edesia, was honored with the Impact Award for its groundbreaking efforts to treat severe acute malnutrition in children worldwide. The award was accepted by CEO Navyn Salem.

Hosted by Mo Rocca, the gala celebrated the people and partners who make our mission possible. Funds raised will help our teams continue reaching the hardest-to-reach communities — through conflict zones, natural disasters, and crises — delivering life-saving assistance wherever and whenever it’s needed most.

Action Against Hunger remains fully operational in Gaza despite severe restrictions that obstruct humanitarian access.

Our teams are adapting daily—relocating when needed, working under immense constraints, and ensuring aid continues to reach families wherever possible. With stock prepositioned in Jordan (including more than 2,000 food parcels, bulk food, solar lights, and more), we are prepared to respond. But inside Gaza, supplies and fuel are critically low.

We will continue to do everything within our power to deliver humanitarian assistance—because saving lives cannot wait.

Long before disaster strikes — and long after the headlines fade — humanitarians work relentlessly alongside communities to expand access to food, clean water, and the chance for a better future.

Against Hunger is on the ground in Baringo County, Kenya, helping communities tap into a critical resource: clean, safe water — one borehole at a time.

A borehole is a deep well that draws groundwater to the surface, providing a reliable source of clean water close to home, even during severe drought.

This is just one of the many ways our teams are making a lasting impact.

"But several organizations, including Doctors Without Borders and the aid group Action Against Hunger, have reported deaths in children related to malnutrition.

Have you heard about the lean season? It’s the toughest part of the agricultural cycle—typically between May and September—when food is scarce, and the most vulnerable suffer the most. In Nigeria alone, 2.6 million children are projected to face acute malnutrition during the 2025 lean season.
Weather shifts, disrupted planting patterns, and increasingly unpredictable seasons are prolonging periods of scarcity. These impacts are felt hardest in Sub‑Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
But there is hope. Action Against Hunger responds with preventative strategies like climate‑smart agriculture, agroecological training, and early‑warning systems.

Lean season is the period between planting and harvesting, when food availability is at its lowest, but its impact lasts much longer.

Breastfeeding is the simplest, most natural ways to protect a child’s life. It provides ideal nutrition for babies and a healthy start—with benefits that last a lifetime. And yet, it remains overlooked, under-supported, and misunderstood.
In the places where Action Against Hunger works, breastfeeding is critical. In humanitarian emergencies and conflict zones, clean water for formula is often unavailable. In these settings, breast milk is the safest, most reliable option to nourish and protect infants.
If every child were breastfed as recommended, we could save more than 820,000 lives each year.

Over 100 organizations, including Action Against Hunger, warn of mass starvation in the Gaza Strip unless aid is immediately allowed in.

Doctors report unprecedented rates of acute malnutrition, particularly among children and the elderly.

Read our full joint statement:

As Gaza faces mass starvation and humanitarian collapse, over 100 aid organizations are sounding the alarm. With civilians dying while seeking food and humanitarian workers blocked from delivering aid, the situation has reached a breaking point.

When natural disasters strike coastal Bangladesh, it’s not just the floods that cause damage- it’s what they leave behind.

Salt in the soil makes it nearly impossible for crops to grow, threatening food security for entire communities.

But farmers in Satkhira are adapting.

With support from Action Against Hunger, they’re using new farming methods to restore their land and protect their harvests.
