Paddle for the Cure

Paddle for the Cure Join our extraordinary movement. Water is Life. www.pfcnyc.org Paddle for the Cure is a special support organization for breast cancer survivors.

Paddle for the Cure NYC (PFC) is an Independent Breast cancer survivor-led 501(c)(3) charity promoting water sports, wellness, and our signature Circle of Light™ worldwide. We offer a unique survivorship program that uses recreational dragon boat paddling to manage treatment side effects for breast cancer survivors and promotes a positive and healthy lifestyle. Organized by survivors ourselves, we

paddle our way to recovery with each other and a tremendous group of supporters and paddling enthusiasts along our side. Our on-water season is May through October. Off-season indoor practices are available November through April. We plan to practice weekly in the World's Fair Marina and participate in Dragon Boat races along the East Coast. Our team events are open to all and they promote a healthy lifestyle, a way of getting life and movement back through emotional support, team spirit, and exercise. Donations and tickets at our fundraisers and events are 100% tax-deductible as we are a 501 (c) non-profit organization.

COVID #3 — NICE TRY.

Isolation finished. No life deducted. Two lives intact.

MY LITTLE PATTERN OF SUCCESS:
3 warm showers — lift my head, let the warm water run over my face and around my nose, breathe in the steam… sneeze, sneeze, sneeze.
TYLENOL POWER.
Soup, soup, and more soup.
Warm water with honey, ginger & lemon.
Vicks on my chest, back, and around the outside of my nose.
Rest. Hydrate. Pray. Repeat.

And yes — I talk to all my body parts:
“Arms? Legs? Head? Chest? Lungs? Tummy? Everybody cooperate!

Crucifix close to my chest. Faith strong. Mind steady.

Then I remembered the time I was preparing for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, riding from Manhattan to Queens in the rain. I crashed, broke my teeth, and came home with my mouth and legs full of blood.

I turned on the warm shower, poured salt into a cup, rinsed my mouth, screamed through the pain — and kept going.

My roommate looked at me and said, “How do you do it?”

Because I’m a TOUGH COOKIE.

Tonight… cold water with ICE — finally! BRAVO! YUMMY!

MENTAL STRENGTH MATTERS.
PATTERN. REPEAT. RECOVER. RISE.

DRAGON MINDSET. HEART OF A LION. TENACIOUS FIREHORSE.

KEEP GOING. KEEP PUFFING. GALLOP, GALLOP. TAKE THE LEAD.

I carry my breast cancer wand, strike it to the sky, and release pink, powerful light — giving hope and passing my light to others.

THE BRIGHTER WE SHINE TOGETHER, THE BETTER THE WORLD BECOMES.

BCAM 10/2 — THIS REAL PINK DRAGON IS READY TO SHINE BRIGHTER, MAKE WAVES, TAKE THE LEAD, AND LIGHT THE WORLD IN PINK.

What is your best investment?

Yourself.

Don’t waste your energy listening to critics, negativity, or people who don’t understand your vision.

Stay focused on the bigger picture—the mission, the purpose, and creating something meaningful.

No criticism can erase years of hard work, impact, love, and purpose.

When something falls apart, learn how to rebuild it and keep moving.

Money can come and go. Circumstances can change. People may doubt you.

But your creativity, courage, skills, vision, and ability to rise again are things no one can take away from you.

Keep growing.
Keep building.
Keep moving toward the bigger vision.

Create. Rebuild. Rise. Keep going.

And as Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaches, this message becomes even more meaningful.

To every survivor, fighter, caregiver, family, and person touched by breast cancer: your strength is more than what you have survived—it is what you continue to create with the life in front of you.

Let your courage speak.
Let your purpose speak louder.
Let your light remind someone else not to give up.

This BCAM, we stand for one another.

We rise. We shine. We keep going.

Because your greatest asset will always be the person you continue to become.
