Tennessee Titans new head coach, Robert Saleh, just banned seed oils from the team’s entire facility. According to Saleh, the team removed seed oils from the Titans cafeteria as part of a larger nutrition overhaul. This includes canola oil, soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil and more. Saleh said “One of the first things we did here was get rid of all the seed oils in the building. The players really appreciated it.”

The move was focused on improving player recovery, reducing sluggishness, improving food quality and giving players “better variety”. Titans safety Amani Ho**er said “that stuff weights on you and can make you not feel good when we’re playing.”

Seed oils are extremely high in linoleic acid, an omega- fat that now dominates 20% of the average modern diet through processed foods and restaurant oils. Humans historically consumed omega-6 and omega-3 fats at roughly a 1:1 ratio. Today, that ratio is estimated to be closer to 20:1 in many Western diets, a shift that has led to inflammation, oxidative stress and poorer metabolic health for humans.
