We may not have been at , however, WE were UP there last year, in spirit, in purpose, and in presence.

Having joined virtually this year at the just concluded event, here is what you need to know about new breakthroughs in cancer research.

πŸ’œ For pancreatic cancer, a new drug, daraxonrasib, nearly doubled survival! Wow! 😲

πŸ’œ For breast cancer, a genomic test (Prosigna) can help spare a majority of high-risk patients from chemo. This is so welcomed as I still manage chemo-induced side effects years after treatment. πŸ™„

πŸ’œ Regarding lung cancer, an antibody (ivonescimab) outperformed standard immunotherapy.

πŸ’œ GLP-1 drugs may help prevent an early-stage cancer from advancing to late stage.

Looking at the big picture, it is obvious that AI, multicancer early detection tests, and digital health tools are moving oncology toward more personalized care.

This is why we do this work. Science is moving fast and patients deserve to understand what is coming and what is possible. It is exactly why Cancer Convos with Grace B. exists, to demystify all of this for our community because you deserve to know and allowed to ask questions. There is hope. The future is bright.

πŸ“£" Cancer doesn’t wait. Neither should we.

Hey Fam, today is my 10th cancerversary. It is 10 years to this very minute that I received my diagnosis, and I remain cancer-free. πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’œ

I am so thankful to Almighty God, my amazing daughter, extended family, and my very supportive medical team, who still have my back after all these years. ❀️

Also grateful for the many relationships, partnerships, and lessons during this life-changing experience, and continue to pray fervently for a cure.

To that person starting out on their cancer journey, I say, keep your faith on overdrive, remain resolute, and ensure you have someone or a few good souls to encourage you. Keep negativity away. Self advocacy is key. Ask questions and empower yourself by staying informed about your diagnosis. If no one told you, you are allowed to get 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th opinions.

So, there it is, dear Fam, a toast to life! πŸ₯‚ Thank you so much for being here and encouraging me. ❀️ I will always cherish you.

Aluta continua! πŸ‘ŠπŸ½

We may not have been at this year, however, WE were UP there last year, in spirit, and in purpose.

, the American Cancer Society (ACS) expanded collaboration with American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) to help patients better find cancer information online, creating one of the largest and most comprehensive online resources available for FREE to the public.
The ASCO meeting is a platform for oncology professionals to discuss groundbreaking scientific discoveries and therapies and, as you can imagine, ACS scientists and other global clinical oncologists deliver excellent presentations in clinical cancer research. This year highlighted a breakthrough for pancreatic cancer and breast cancer to be shared soon. πŸ‘πŸ½

Our message is always loud and clear.

Hey Fam! πŸ‘‹
♂️ June is Men's Health Month and here's what our brothers need to do.

♂️ Check your blood pressure, heart health, cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight. Mental health is also important because depression is real and underdiagnosed in men.

♂️ Cancer screenings are crucial. If you are:

40 plus? Have a colonoscopy.
50 plus? Have a prostate (PSA) talk with your doctor.
50–80 plus with a smoking history? An annual lung cancer screening is necessary.

♂️ Skin checks.
⚠️ Attention. Black men have skin cancer too.

♂️ Testicular self-exams are important for adolescents and young adults 15-35 years.

πŸ™„ Most men avoid the doctor until it's too late. That's the habit we need to break.

♂️ Will you check in on your male friends and family and encourage them to make that call, book that appointment, and go see the doctor?

Knowledge is only potential power. Action is power."

As a proud cancer advocate and Lead Volunteer for The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, I am happy to share the newly released colorectal cancer screening guidelines which will expand patients' choices to include new, innovative screening options: blood-based screening at your doctor’s office, and additional at-home screening options.

You do not have to wait until you are 45. Delay is dangerous. Be informed. Awareness is critical.
