20.2 miles. 6+ hours. 11,000+ ft. Middle of the night.

My job: force-feed him, find rubber gloves and butt butter, keep him moving, and somehow keep the vibes alive. 😂

His job: make history.

Four years after meeting Brian Reynolds while he was training for his first Leadville attempt, I got to pace him toward becoming the first double amputee to finish the Leadville 100.

Some adventures are hard. Some are unforgettable.

This one was both. 🤍

It’s like Christmas morning, runner edition!

Not as fun as a new pair of shoes, but getting fuel for long runs and marathon training is still a highlight for the week.

This round I’m trying the Carbs Fuel 50g to make it easier to get in 70-75g of carbs per hour. With 20% off they were a steal at $1.60 per gel.

I also got some tried and true SIS isotonic and SIS beta fuel to rotate in. I personally find the SIS isotonic sits better if you have a sensitive stomach (🙋‍♀️) but also harder to hit a higher carb per hour target.

POV Long run fueling is a work in progress, especially in the heat. Gradually working back up to 60 g/hr and being consistent with intake.

Back to running 🏃‍♀️ —and stronger than ever.

I was worried that a few weeks off might set me back, but with the right approach it doesn’t have to. What it showed me is what actually matters:

✔️ Fueling enough
✔️ Supporting my body (not punishing it)
✔️ Training with intention

Today’s run felt smooth, strong, and effortless—and that’s not by accident.

For years I thought more mileage = better results.

But the truth? Undereating, under-recovering, and overtraining will hold you back even more.

Stop comparing yourself to everyone else! It’s easy to get caught up in the comparison game - “she ran further” or “she ran faster” and suddenly you start feeling like you’re falling behind.

I know the feeling well as I take a 2 week intentional pause on running in the middle of Berlin training. But I trust my body and my training and I know I’ll return to training recovered and ready to GO!

Training consistently is only one piece of the puzzle. What I’ve learned from the last 3 years of training (and dropping my marathon time from 3:45 —> 3:09) is that what you do when you’re not running is even more important. And one of the most common issues for female athletes is underfueling - especially for women who feel like they are doing “everything right.”

So if your body feels harder to live in than it should…pay attention to that.

I am beyond grateful to be joining the Puma Project3 team for the Berlin marathon 🇩🇪! Marathon training has brought together so many aspects of my life - connection + community, resilience, health + performance, medicine, longevity, recovery and becoming the woman who shows up for herself every single day.

This will be an interesting training block to say the least, but I’m excited about how it will unfold!
