A supplement guide is a starting point—not the whole plan. 💊

Supplements can be helpful tools, but “natural” does not automatically mean safe, and more is not always better.

In this clip from Eat Kale & Cupcakes Ep 18, we talk about why you can’t simply pick up a supplement guide, choose a few products, and assume they’re right for you.

Before starting a supplement, it’s important to consider:
✨ Your individual health history and goals
✨ Medications and potential interactions
✨ Lab values and whether you actually need it
✨ The form, dose, and quality of the product
✨ How it fits into your overall care plan

Our supplement guide for PCOS/PMOS is designed to help you ask better questions—not replace individualized recommendations from your healthcare team.

Insulin resistance and androgens: it’s a two-way street 🔄

In PCOS/PMOS, insulin resistance can contribute to increased androgen production and elevated androgens can, in turn, worsen insulin resistance.

In Episode 18 of Eat Kale & Cupcakes, we talk about how inositol may support PCOS/PMOS through its potential effects on:

→ Insulin resistance
→ Androgens
→ Inflammation
→ Menstrual cycle

Radical acceptance isn’t just about loving your body.

It’s about learning to make room for your body as it is—even on the days you don’t like how it looks, feel comfortable in it, or understand why it’s changing.

You don’t have to love your body to care for it.
You don’t have to love your body to feed it.
You don’t have to love your body to live fully in it.

Sometimes acceptance sounds less like “I love my body!” and more like:

“This is my body today. I don’t have to fix it before I’m allowed to live my life.”

By the time you’re think someone has an eating disorder, it may already be serious.

One of the biggest misconceptions about eating disorders is that you need to see significant weight loss or obvious physical deterioration before you should be concerned.

You don’t.

If you’re thinking, “I wonder if this could be an eating disorder…”—that’s reason enough to get a professional involved.

Early intervention matters.

The most important eating disorder question you may not be asking:

👉 “How is your eating different when you’re alone?”

Someone can appear to be eating “normally” around others while struggling significantly with food, restriction, bingeing, or compensatory behaviors in private.

That’s why looking beyond *what* someone eats—and asking about how, when, where, and with whom they eat—matters.

A simple question can open the door to a conversation that might otherwise never happen.

Your CGM is not a report card.

Seeing your blood sugar rise after eating doesn’t automatically mean you did something wrong.

Blood glucose is supposed to fluctuate throughout the day. It responds to meals, movement, stress, sleep, hormones, timing, and so much more.

The goal of using a CGM shouldn’t be to chase a perfectly flat glucose line or feel anxious every time you see a number you don’t like.

Instead, think of it as information—not a judgment.

Ask:
✨ What was happening before this?
✨ Did I just eat? What did I just eat?
✨ Was I stressed or sleep-deprived?
✨ What patterns do I notice over time?
✨ Is this actually clinically meaningful—or am I reacting to one number?

Especially if you have a history of disordered eating, more data isn’t always better.

Sometimes the healthiest relationship with a CGM is learning how to look at the data without letting the data control you.

🎧 Listen to Eat Kale & Cupcakes for more conversations about blood sugar, nutrition, and a healthier relationship with your body.

Your blood sugar isn’t only about what you eat.

Stress, sleep, movement, hormones, and even your nervous system can all influence blood glucose.

So what happens when we slow down and actually pay attention to what’s happening in our bodies?

In this clip, Laura talks about the connection between mindfulness, the nervous system, and blood sugar—and why supporting your nervous system can be part of supporting metabolic health.

Because nutrition is more than a list of foods that “raise” or “lower” your blood sugar.

🧠 Your body is constantly responding to what’s happening around you.

How does an eating disorder expert navigate body image?? Even an eating disorder expert can have body image thoughts.

The difference isn’t necessarily that the thoughts disappear.

It’s what happens next.

In this conversation, Jessica Setnick, MS, RD, CEDS-C gets incredibly honest about navigating her own body image thoughts, and what it looks like to respond to those thoughts without letting them take over.

Because body acceptance doesn’t mean you suddenly love every part of your body.
