Why can taking a positive risk feel just as scary as facing actual danger?

The answer may go back further than you think. From our earliest relationships, we learn which emotions, needs, and desires feel safe to express and which might threaten connection. Even as adults, stepping outside those familiar patterns can trigger a very real sense of panic or dread.

In this video, we explore why positive emotional risks can feel so threatening, how our earliest relationships shape those responses, and how understanding the difference between past and present can help us make space for something new.

Sometimes fear doesn’t mean you’re in danger. It may mean you’re doing something that once felt dangerous.

Therapy is about more than treatment plans, techniques, and measurable goals. Some of the most meaningful moments happen through connection, trust, laughter, and the feeling of being truly understood.

In this video blog, psychotherapist Michael Kucmeroski explores how joy can become part of the healing process. From celebrating small breakthroughs to sharing moments of lightness, the therapeutic relationship can create space for hope, resilience, and connection even during difficult times.

There’s no single “normal” when it comes to s*xual desire. S*x drive can shift over time based on stress, relationships, mental health, medication, life changes, and so much more.

In this blog post, psychotherapist Bryan Bance explores the fluid nature of s*x drive, what can influence our desire, and how we can approach changes with curiosity instead of judgment. Rather than asking whether your s*x drive is too high or too low, it may be more helpful to ask what feels right for you.

Endings can be beautiful. Nature reminds us of that every fall. 🍂

Trees cannot survive unless they let go of their leaves. They simply don’t have the energy or capacity to keep them year-round. So, they make the choice to turn them into vibrant shades of red and orange—showing us that letting go can be a work of art.

More importantly, trees shed what they carry because they know another season is coming. They trust that in time, they’ll have the energy and capacity to blossom again.

What if we applied that same seasonal wisdom to our own lives?

Take a look at your current routine:

What are you carrying that feels unsustainable right now?

What can you pause, slow down, or temporarily put down to protect your energy?

Remember: adjusting your routine or stepping back doesn't mean giving up forever. It just means honoring what you need in this season.

👇 What is one thing you’re allowing yourself to pause right now? Let me know in the comments.

Stop trying to overhaul your entire life after summer. 🌿

If you spent the last few months socializing, traveling, and easing up on your usual health habits, drop the guilt. You didn't "fail"—you lived. You connected with people, rested, and enjoyed a season. That is just as essential to your well-being as any routine.

The "all-or-nothing" big reset usually sets us up for the next crash. You don't need a massive life overhaul to get back on track.

Try this instead:

Reflect on what you missed: Summer shows us which habits actually serve us and which ones we can leave behind.

Pick ONE thing: Listen to what your body is quietly asking for this week. Just one thing—whether it's an earlier bedtime, more water, or a daily walk.

Build from kindness: Momentum builds from self-compassion way faster than it ever builds from guilt.

You didn't fail yourself. You lived a whole summer, and now you just get to come back to yourself gently. đź’›

👇 What is ONE small thing your body is asking for this week?

Depression can make work feel harder than it used to. When productivity becomes tied to our sense of worth, struggling to keep up can bring shame, guilt, and isolation.

In this blog, psychotherapist Ashley Bethea explores depression in the workplace, how it can impact day-to-day functioning, and how to approach conversations about mental health and support at work. She also discusses how workplaces can create environments that prioritize employee well-being alongside productivity.

So much of the conversation around su***de prevention focuses on telling people who are struggling to reach out for help.

But reaching out can feel nearly impossible when someone is overwhelmed by hopelessness, isolation, or the belief that they are a burden.

We can share some of that responsibility.

Connection does not have to begin with, “Are you okay?” It can begin long before there is a crisis. Text someone because you thought of them. Invite them somewhere because you enjoy their company. Ask how their week went. Remember what they told you last time. Make them feel wanted, not simply monitored.

People deserve to know they matter when they are struggling. They also deserve to know they matter when nothing is wrong.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, let’s think about prevention not only as responding to crisis, but as creating relationships and communities where people feel connected, valued, and less alone.

If you or someone you know needs immediate support, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Transitioning out of summer mode is hard, even if you're someone who thrives in routine. 🍂

Summertime brings long weekends, late nights, and a spirit of living in the moment. Coming back to regular schedules, work demands, and heavier responsibilities can trigger a real sense of overwhelm, friction, or grief.

If you're feeling that seasonal shift right now, keep these three practices in mind:

Honor the season that passed: Take a moment of gratitude for the off-script days and new memories. It’s valid to grieve the end of a season while honoring everything it gave you.

Give your nervous system grace: Our bodies adjust in phases, not overnight. Give yourself time and patience as you transition back into structure.

Re-establish support, not punishment: You aren't "undoing a summer of excess." You are simply bringing back the rituals, movement, and routines that help you feel grounded, clear, and supported.

Transitions are inherently messy. Be kind to yourself as you step into this new rhythm. 🤍

đź’¬ What is one small routine helping you feel grounded this week? Save this post for when you need a gentle reminder to slow down.
