Peptide therapy is not a one-size-fits-all decision.

Whether a peptide is appropriate depends on the specific compound, its mechanism, your medical history, current medications, and the evidence supporting its use. Certain health conditions and life stages may require avoiding, delaying, or carefully evaluating treatment.

This is especially important when considering compounded or investigational peptides; where regulatory status, formulation, and clinical evidence can differ significantly.

At Elite Health Center NYC, we don’t start with the peptide. We start with you. Your medical evaluation. Appropriate screening. Physician-guided treatment.

Educational content only. Treatments are prescribed only after a medical evaluation. Individual results may vary.

NAD+ is more than a longevity buzzword. It’s a molecule your cells rely on every day, particularly for energy metabolism and a range of cellular processes.

What makes NAD+ interesting is what happens to NAD+ metabolism as we age, and whether supporting those pathways can meaningfully influence human health. That’s where the research gets interesting and where the conversation needs more nuance.

At EHCNYC, we’re interested in the science behind NAD+, not just the hype around it, because when it comes to longevity, understanding the biology comes first.

After 40, changes in energy, body composition, recovery, and metabolism can feel like they happen overnight but there’s biology behind many of these shifts. Hormones don’t work in isolation. S*x hormones, growth hormone, insulin, and cortisol all interact with sleep, nutrition, activity, stress, and body composition.

Understanding what’s changing is more useful than simply blaming it on “getting older.”

At EHCNYC, we take a closer look at the individual factors behind your health not just the symptoms. Because aging is inevitable. Feeling uninformed about it isn’t.

Weight management is more than a number on the scale.

Medications that target GLP-1 and related pathways are changing how we think about metabolic care but different therapies have different mechanisms, indications, and levels of clinical evidence.

Tirzepatide, for example, targets both GIP and GLP-1 receptors and is an FDA-approved medication for specific indications. Retatrutide targets GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors, but remains investigational. That distinction matters.

At EHCNYC, we look beyond what is trending and consider the evidence, your health history, metabolic goals, and whether a particular therapy is medically appropriate for you.

Because the goal isn’t simply to find the strongest medication.
It’s to find the right approach for the right patient.

Heard of Retatrutide yet???

With so much buzz around weight management treatments, it’s hard to keep up with what is currently available versus what is still in development. Retatrutide is one to definitely keep on your radar as clinical trials progress.

What other new health trends or terms are confusing you lately? Drop them below and we will break them down in our next post!

Sermorelin isn’t a shortcut to “more growth hormone.”

It’s role is to stimulate the pituitary pathway involved in endogenous GH release. That is different from administering growth hormone itself.

At Elite Health Center NYC, that means looking at the individual patient and the relevant clinical information before determining whether treatment is appropriate. The right peptide isn’t the starting point. The right clinical evaluation is.

Semaglutide and retatrutide are often mentioned in the same conversation, but they are not the same type of therapy.

Semaglutide acts through the GLP-1 receptor. Retatrutide is being studied as a triple agonist, targeting GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors. That difference is one reason retatrutide has generated so much interest in metabolic research. But promising clinical data and FDA approval are two different things.

Retatrutide remains investigational and is not FDA-approved.
At EHCNYC, we believe understanding the mechanism, the evidence, and the limitations matters just as much as understanding the potential.

Glutathione is not simply a “skin-brightening” ingredient. It is a naturally occurring tripeptide involved in the body’s antioxidant defense system, and its relationship with pigmentation has been studied through its effects on oxidative stress and melanogenesis.

Research suggests glutathione may influence tyrosinase activity and melanin production, but the clinical evidence is still evolving. Studies have reported potential benefits for hyperpigmentation, while also highlighting limitations in study size, formulation, route of administration, and consistency of results.

That distinction matters. At Elite Health Center NYC, we look beyond a trending ingredient and consider the science, the individual, and whether a particular approach is clinically appropriate.

BPC-157 is generating interest in regenerative and recovery research but the science is still developing.

This 15-amino-acid peptide has been studied extensively in preclinical research, including investigations into angiogenesis, tissue repair, inflammation, and gastrointestinal function. But there’s an important distinction between promising mechanisms in research and established clinical outcomes in humans.

BPC-157 is not FDA-approved for human therapeutic use, and high-quality human clinical evidence remains limited. That’s why it belongs in an informed medical conversation not a list of guaranteed benefits.

At EHCNYC, we believe understanding what the research shows and what it doesn’t yet show is part of responsible peptide education.

The next chapter in metabolic medicine is already being studied. Retatrutide is an investigational, once-weekly triple receptor agonist that activates three pathways: GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon.

Why does that matter? GLP-1 and GIP are involved in metabolic regulation, while glucagon signaling is being studied for its potential role in energy metabolism and energy expenditure. Together, these pathways are being investigated as a new approach to the treatment of obesity and related metabolic conditions.

The clinical data are compelling. In the Phase 3 TRIUMPH-1 trial, participants receiving the 12 mg dose had an average 28.3% reduction in body weight at 80 weeks. But promising results are not the same as regulatory approval.

Retatrutide is not currently FDA-approved and is not available for routine clinical use outside clinical trials.

At EHCNYC, we believe staying at the forefront of metabolic medicine also means knowing the difference between what is promising, what is proven, and what is still being studied.
