WEST SIDE STORY at Paper Mill Playhouse

06/27 - 28

An enduring masterpiece, West Side Story reimagines Romeo and Juliet in 1950s New York, where young lovers Tony and Maria dare to dream of a future together as rival gangs the Jets and the Sharks clash for control of the streets. With music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents, this unforgettable classic captures the thrilling passion of first love and the heartbreak of a world divided, featuring the original choreography of Jerome Robbins.

Theater Camp

Monday, August 10th
10 AM - 3 PM

The progressive Young Actors Laboratory program still covers all the theater essentials, like physical-acting technique, improvisation & script writing, but with a decidedly downtown twist. This year's unique summer experience will include a fusion of sign language, spoken word, mime, storytelling, dance and music. This is a great choice for students, hearing, Deaf, and Hard-of-hearing, who are interested in theater but eager to try something more offbeat than, say, Oklahoma.

No prior acting experience necessary. Artists of all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Bring an open mind and have it blown away!

And Then The Rodeo Burned Down

Tuesday - 06/09th
7:30 PM

I'd like to invite you to a very special ASL Interpreted Performance of:

Xhloe and Natasha's
"And Then the Rodeo Burned Down"
Directed with Tom Costello

The rodeo is the best place in the world. Why would anybody burn it down? Dale, a rodeo clown with a big dream (and a mischievous shadow), certainly wouldn’t. After all, Dale wants to be a cowboy. So, if we’re going to find out who burned the rodeo down, we’ll have to finish the play. And now there’s fire involved? That sounds expensive.

Physical, brutal, ruthlessly funny, and weirdly tender, And Then The Rodeo Burned Down, from three-time Edinburgh Fringe First Award winners Xhloe and Natasha, is a rowdy, lightning-fast story of ambition, heartbreak, and the cost of pursuing the thing you love. Fake ci******es, real fire.

This show is staged in the round, meaning the action is played at the center of the space to the audience on all sides of the stage. During the ASL-interpreted performance, professional interpreters will be positioned together delivering an engaging interpretation of the show’s dialogue so Deaf and Hard of Hearing patrons can immerse themselves fully in the performance. When you follow the link above (or select June 9th as your performance date), be sure to reserve the ticket tier titled "GA with ASL Interpreter" so we can reserve your seats in the section with a clear view of the interpreters.

Feel free to contact our Audience Services Associate at [email protected] before your visit to discuss any additional access needs or if you have any questions regarding the ASL interpreted performance.

Please spread the word and share with anyone who you think may be interested in attending! We look forward to furthering our commitment to accessible programming and can't wait to have you at 'the Rodeo'!

Yeehaw!
