Global Running Day with Nike NYC😀

80° weather, hundreds of runners, miles of NYC streets, pure vibes.🙌🏾

One of my favorite things about running is the community it has brought into my life. Yesterday was a reminder of just how special this sport can be.

Running is better together😀

Follow along for Part 2.

Happy Global Running Day! 🏃🏾‍♀️

Running has given me so much more than fitness.

It has taught me resilience, consistency, and discipline. It has carried me through some of life’s hardest seasons and celebrated with me through some of the best. It has introduced me to an incredible community, taken me to places I never imagined, and opened doors to opportunities I never expected.

Today, I’m grateful for the ability to move, for the friendships I’ve made along the way, and for every mile that has shaped me into the person I am today.

I’ll be celebrating Global Running Day with my squad in NYC, where it all started for me nearly 20 years ago. 💗

Why do you run? And what are your plans for Global Running Day?

Training my girls for their first Spring race 🏃🏾‍♀️ 🤗

Remember when I was running pregnant 🤰🏾 with my girls and everyone said they would come out running? Well y’all weren’t lying! 😆

This might be one of my favorite chapters yet. It was so cool running with them during 42 weeks of pregnancy 🤰🏾but this is next level 🙌🏾

I’ve spent years sharing my own running journey, and now I get to be Mommy Coach while these two learn what it’s like to train, work hard, and have fun doing it.

Race day, here we come🔥

Running wisdom from my 7-year-old:

“Anytime things are going bad, I say ‘I love life’ to cheer me up.”🥰
This is such a great mindset reminder and something that a lot of us could use especially at the start of a new month🙌🏾

We were out on an easy one-mile training run, and one of my favorite things about these runs is the conversations we have while doing it🤗

I’m training my girls for their spring races and trying to teach them about running but sometimes the best lessons come from them🫶🏾

Follow along for more mommy-and-daughter training moments, running adventures, and wisdom from my kids👧🏾👧🏾

Sweaty but smiling because running is always a good idea Sweaty but smiling. 😊

Thursday’s Nike Media Miles run brought the wind, the rain, and a little bit of chaos, but running is always a good idea when it ends with tacos, music, and great company.

A fun 5K through Brooklyn followed by food, drinks, networking, and a reminder that the running community really is something special.

Which photo is your favorite?

Thursday’s Nike Media Miles fun 5k run brought a little rain, lots of wind, then the sun 🌞. It was like weather roulette all in a 30 minute window 🫠 😂

fun miles, tacos🌮 music 🎵 good people and good conversations👌🏾

Thursday night with Nike Media Miles in Brooklyn was the perfect reminder that running is about more than the miles, it’s about community😀

Are you a fan of community runs?
I think it’s such a great way to meet new people.

Stay tuned for the video recap.

A neighbor stopped me towards the end of my run yesterday just to tell me that she sees me out there running all the time and loves it 🥹

She said she never stops me because I always look focused, but today she wanted to tell me I’m looking good and to keep going, sis.

She also told me she used to be a runner herself and to keep taking care of myself💜

This really made my day because sometimes you forget people are quietly rooting for you🥹

Consistency inspires people more than you think ☺️

So if you’re out there working, keep going 👊🏾

First run after the Brooklyn Half Marathon 🤗🙌🏾

I took a full 10 days off because recovery matters after a hard training block. Was it conservative? Maybe.
But after running through brutal winter weather 🥶 my body needed the reset!

Now we’re entering the off-season running era.
Fun, easy miles, fitness classes, movement and good vibes 😎 before NYC marathon training starts 🤪

So stay tuned because your girl is outside again🤗

What fitness class should I take first?

I’m back outside!!!🤗💃🏾🏃🏾‍♀️

Took a full 10 days off after the Brooklyn Half Marathon because I’m big believer that if you train hard, you’ve gotta recover harder.

And after this brutal winter ❄️, my body needed every second of it!

But babyyyyy I missed running so it felt so good to hit the pavement again 🏃🏾‍♀️😀

How many days do you take off to recover after a big training block?

Post-race thoughts 💭
Here’s how I felt immediately after running the Brooklyn Half Marathon 🏁

I felt happy, strong, and proud of myself☺️
My main race goals are always the same:
✔️finish healthy
✔️beat last year’s time
and
✔️have fun

Once I realized how crowded my wave was and how hot the race was getting, I threw my time goal out the window and focused on running smart, staying strong, and enjoying the experience instead.

My body felt great from start to finish💪🏾

I’ll definitely be searching for a goal race in the Fall😀

# AD
22 months. That’s how long it’s been since I’ve been able
to see and hug my mom in person. the first
thing I did was call her to make plans for her to visit once
we were both fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and
completed the recommended 2 week waiting period.
There are so many things she missed out on that I
couldn’t wait to do again:
Show her how big my girls have gotten.
Get her opinion on plants in my backyard.
Show her renovations I did on our home.
Watch TV shows with her and listen to her hilarious
commentary.
Make some of my favorite childhood dishes with her in a
way that only she can make them. 😋
The wait is finally over and it’s even better than I could’ve
imagined. I can’t express how much joy her visit has
brought me and my girls 👧🏾👧🏾
When I got the shot, I experienced a sore arm, and a
headache but thankfully I had Advil to help relieve
my side effects.
Getting vaccinated was 1000% worth it!
Speak to your doctor about what is right for you and learn
more about using Advil for post-vaccine side effects by

//
Who else has connected with family members and/or
friends after getting their shot?🙋🏾‍♀️
