People pleasing might be costing you more than you realize.
Something I’ve noticed about people pleasing is that it rarely stays in just one area of your life.
It can show up in your business when you struggle to ask to be paid for your offers, undercharge, overgive, or feel guilty asking for what your work is worth.
And over time, you may start attracting people who are very comfortable taking everything you’re willing to give—your time, your energy, your expertise, your availability—without respecting the boundaries around it.
But it doesn’t stop with your business.
It can start showing up in your body.
The anxious thoughts that won’t turn off.
That constant nervous feeling in your body.
Overthinking whether someone is upset with you.
Feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions.
The tension. The exhaustion. The inability to fully relax because some part of you is always scanning:
Is everyone okay with me?
Did I disappoint someone?
Should I have done more?
And maybe this is the deeper piece…
People pleasing isn’t always about being “too nice.”
Sometimes it’s a subconscious pattern that learned:
“If everyone else is okay with me, then I’m safe.”
So even when your conscious mind knows you’re allowed to say no, charge appropriately, have boundaries, or choose yourself…
your nervous system may experience doing those things as unsafe.
That’s the pattern we have to look at.
Because you can’t build a peaceful life—or a sustainable business—while constantly abandoning yourself to keep everyone else comfortable.
You’re allowed to be kind without overgiving.
You’re allowed to be generous without being depleted.
You’re allowed to be paid well for your work.
And you’re allowed to choose yourself without feeling guilty about it.
See if you recognize yourself in any of this. 🤍
