I wanted to give an update to everyone who has been following my kidney journey. Last week, I got the call from NYU letting me know that they won’t be moving forward with my case. I was also told that most other transplant centers will likely come to the same conclusion.
After four years of fighting through so much testing and physical and mental drainage, I’ve had to face the hard truth: a transplant is most likely not going to happen for me, and dialysis is my permanent future.
It’s not the news we wanted, but it is the reality, and I have to make the best of it. I’ll still look into other options just to be sure, but if this is my path, I’m going to own it. We are going to ride this dialysis train until the wheels fall off.
Thank you to my friends and family for all the love. Stay up and stay positive.
