We get lots of questions that start with “can I join your campout if…?” And the answer is always yes! If you’ve never camped, if you’ve camped a million times. If you come alone or with a group. If you bike, drive, or even take the bus! Everyone is welcome as long as you are up for good times. Good food, and meeting great people!

We had a great time this weekend with family visiting us up in the Catskills. And I also got some mulch put down in the front garden! Thanks for all your help 🙌🏼

Y’all I am ready to be done with this lowlands area in the meadow 😂 I think I finally put the last plant in the ground today, but I make no promises 🤪💁🏻‍♀️ Can’t wait to see the monarchs enjoying the milkweed!!

Quick progress video from a couple of weekends ago. Now that my has arrived I’ll get to add that to the area this week! I keep having to remind myself that so many of the things I’ve planted will soon be blooming. Right now everything just looks like a million shades of brown and green 😂

Got our first delivery of wood chips last weekend, and I’ve got a long list of ways to use it! It was too hot to start moving it around that day, and now it’s pouring rain all weekend 😂 but never fear, mulch projects are coming soon!

Setting up a tent for the first time can feel like one of those camping things everyone - but you - already knows how to do.

But no need to panic. You’ve got this!

Here are our tips for setting up your tent like a pro… and it starts before you take the tent out of the bag:

🏕️ Pick slightly higher ground so rainwater drains away
🌾 Avoid tall grass if you don’t want extra bugs
🌳 Look up before setting up under trees - no dead limbs!
💨 Stake your tent down, even if the weather seems calm
🌧️ Put the rainfly on before you go to sleep

PLUS We put together a beginner-friendly blog post guide to setting up a tent for the first time — including what to look for in a campsite, how to avoid common mistakes, and why a ground tarp can actually make things worse if it’s set up wrong.

And if you’re renting gear from Basecamp Brooklyn, we make it even easier: we clean and check the gear before it goes out, and we send you a setup video so you know exactly what to do when you get to camp.

Read the full guide on the blog: How to Set Up a Tent for the First Time (link in bio 🙌🏼)

Because once the tent is up, the best part begins. 🏕️😎

Phew! Made it one week with no deer browsing! I’m still going to use the Deer Defeat Spray for good measure, but what a relief! 😅
