By promoting research in cosmetic science and industry, and by setting high ethical, professional and educational standards, we reach our goal of improving the qualifications of cosmetic scientists. Our mission is to further the interests and

recognition of cosmetic scientists while maintaining the confidence of the public in the cosmetic and toiletries industry. Since 1948 Chapters have been the lifeblood of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. We now have 19 Chapters throughout the United States and Canada which conduct monthly meetings, educational seminars, suppliers' days and publish monthly newsletters. These Chapters are run by dedicated volunteers who lend their time and expertise to the smooth and efficient operation of each Chapter

Applications are now open for the Green Star™ Award, recognizing formulators in the finished goods sector who are advancing sustainable innovation.

To be considered, applicants must submit a completed online application and required documentation by Friday, August 14, 2026, and ensure that five product samples (in commercial packaging) are received by Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Hands-on Skincare Science 🧴🧪✨

At Manhattan University’s College of Engineering, participants completed the Cosmetic Formulations Course, a continuing education requirement for SCC Certificate in Skincare enrollees.

In just 1.5 days, nearly 15 chemists formulated, tested, evaluated, and pitched 5+ skincare products in a fast-paced, hands-on lab experience—strengthening technical skills while collaborating in a real product development setting.

For professionals pursuing the SCC Certificate in Skincare, courses like this bring concepts off the screen and into the lab. For company teams, it’s a meaningful investment in technical training, innovation, and the scientists shaping the future of skincare.
