39% is not a small number.

That’s how many peer-to-peer donors are brand new to an organization, according to Nonprofit Tech for Good. This Self-Improvement Month, we’re inviting you to turn your own growth into support for BRO.

Set one goal for September. Start a fundraiser around it. Tell your people why this work matters to you. Campaigns with a peer-to-peer element raise 2.5 times more on average, and your story can help us reach new people who want to invest in young men of color.

Start your page at bewellbro.org, then pass this along to someone who would do this with you.

What are you working on this month?

Self-Improvement Month is a good time to check your habits, your boundaries, and the story you're telling yourself. Hard doesn't mean broken. Sometimes growth looks like one better choice, one honest conversation, or one goal you actually follow through on.

At BRO, healing requires feeling, and wellness is a way of life. Tell us in the comments, what's one area of your life you're working on right now? Visit bewellbro.org.

This year the giveaway will coincide with the 8Ball Basketball League’s Old Timers’ Game, alongside the backpacks, school supplies, food, and music you can expect.

Saturday, September 5th
1:30 PM – 4:00 PM (Old Timers’ Game at 4 PM)

As these young men embark on their journey of redefining themselves and their futures, we’re committed to grounding that work in deep wellness and mental health support. Through cognitive behavioral therapy, one-to-one coaching, and evidence-based practices, we’re equipping them with the tools to build authentic lives; lives where they can show up brave, connected, and fully seen.

Built to be seen. Born to be heard.

We’re launching this work alongside our partners Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez office Brooklyn Org SparkYouth NYC | Nonprofit because real opportunity requires both real skills and real healing.

Welcome, brothers. Let’s redefine what’s possible. 💪

What does it feel like when emotional openness is the normal?

That’s what young men are building inside The BRO Space, a place in Brooklyn where brothers can open up, be challenged, and feel held by community. Through retreats, school-based days, and weekly workshops grounded in the 7 Dimensions of Wellness, we create room for real connection, coping skills, and growth.

If you know a young man who needs a space like this, pass this along. What does wellness mean to you? Tell us in the comments.
