For 37 years, Mereli Llarenas, RN, CCRN, has cared for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives as an ICU nurse at Mount Sinai. MSB held the 2026 Annual Skin Fair designed to enhance nurses’ knowledge and skills in skin and wound care. The fair focused on prevention, assessment, and treatment of skin injuries through interactive, hands-on learning experiences to strengthen everyday skills that directly impact patient care, regulatory compliance, and nursing excellence. Nurses participated in skill-building activities at specialized stations such as pressure injury prevention, accurate wound assessment and measurement, safe patient handling and mobility, and nutrition’s critical role in wound healing.

Throughout June we celebrated National Safety Month. Ongoing initiatives focused on building awareness, strengthening communication, and reinforcing the everyday practices that help protect our patients, visitors, coworkers, and communities.
The Environmental Health and Safety team hosted a tabling to share practical prevention strategies and provide useful resources to support a culture of safety.
Safety is a shared responsibility and an essential part of the care and services we provide every day. Thanks to the MSB team for their continued commitment to promoting a safe and healthy environment.

Staff attended a tabling at Mount Sinai Brooklyn to learn about Mount Sinai’s annual steps challenge, “Reach Your Peak,” designed to support employee well-being, physical activity, and daily health habits.
Something as simple as walking can help support mobility, heart health, stress management, and overall wellness. This annual program brings colleagues together, creates friendly competition, and fosters a positive team spirit. It is a wonderful opportunity to encourage healthy habits, stay active, support one another, and have some fun along the way.
