We're grateful for the opportunity to meet with Assemblyman Cody Miller and share more about the work and vision behind Sensory Safe-Cuts. 💜

It was an encouraging conversation about the future of our initiative and the importance of building stronger support for autistic and neurodivergent individuals and people living with disability across New Jersey.

We're thankful for his support and look forward to the continued conversations and collaboration ahead.

Today, we celebrate National Nonprofit Day 💜

Nonprofits are built on people who believe that change is possible and who are willing to do the work to make it happen.

At Sensory-Safe Cuts, we’re proud to be part of a movement working toward more inclusive, understanding, and supportive hair care communities for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

To our families, supporters, volunteers, partners, advocates, and community members: thank you for believing in this work and helping us move it forward. 💜

Here’s to the organizations creating change, the people behind the work, and the communities we serve.

Happy National Nonprofit Day! 🥳🎉

🚨 Apparently, we needed to say it louder.

SENSORY ACCOMMODATIONS ARE NOT SPECIAL TREATMENT.

Sensory Accomodations and Sensory Safety is about ensuring that everyone: autistic individuals, people with ADHD, sensory processing differences, anxiety, PTSD, dementia, and other sensory sensitivities can access something as basic as a haircut with comfort and respect.

At Sensory Safe-Cuts , we’re advocating for a future where sensory accommodations are not seen as exceptions, but as standards of good service.

P.S. Please stay safe and leave the high climbing to trained professionals (or to our imaginations).
Safety matters for everyone.

Please join us in congratulating Zahara J. Andino on her graduation from Rowan University with a degree in Law & Justice! 🎓💜.

Zahara joined Sensory-Safe Cuts as an intern in January 2026 and stood out through her passion, professionalism, and commitment to sensory-safe advocacy.

During her time with us, she supported both our operations and advocacy efforts; helping coordinate meetings with legislators and stakeholders, conducting research on sensory grooming legislation across different states, and assisting with preparations for presentations before the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling.

Her interest and dedication in advocating for inclusive spaces for autistic and neurodivergent individuals has made a meaningful impact on our work across New Jersey.

We are so proud of all she has accomplished and can't wait to see all the amazing things ahead for her.

Congratulations, Zahara!

When barbers, braiders, stylists, and beauty professionals learn early how to support neurodivergent clients, we move closer to making inclusion part of everyday practice, not something families have to search so hard for.

During Autism Awareness Month, Sensory-Safe Cuts in collaboration with educator Rosemarie Del Plato at Empire Beauty School in Union, NJ organized a sensory-safe event that brought together students, state officials, and community members to highlight the importance of accommodating neurodivergent clients through testimonials and live demonstrations.
It’s encouraging to see this conversation happening inside beauty education spaces.

What would it mean for you or your family if sensory-aware care became the standard in every salon and barbershop? Tell us in the comments. 💜
