Most people with a high calcium score are focused on one thing: the coronary arteries.

But atherosclerosis doesn't stay in one place.

The same process driving plaque buildup in your heart can be happening in your carotid arteries, raising your stroke risk. In your femoral and leg arteries, contributing to peripheral artery disease. Even in your renal arteries, affecting blood pressure and kidney function.

It's a systemic disease. And it asks for a whole-body response.

That's actually where the science becomes genuinely encouraging. When you address the root causes of plaque formation through targeted, evidence-based nutrition, you're not just protecting one artery. You're working to protect your entire vascular system at once.

Inside Optimize, that's exactly what we do, working through six weekly live lectures that cover each root cause directly: inflammation, insulin resistance, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, atherogenic cholesterol, and micronutrient deficiencies. Each one a driver of plaque progression. Each one addressable through the right nutritional strategy.

A high calcium score isn't a verdict. It's information. And what you do with that information matters.

A PAD diagnosis is cardiovascular disease. Not a risk factor. Not a warning sign. The disease itself.

That distinction matters, because the nutrition strategy needs to match that reality.

Most people with peripheral artery disease are told what to cut out. Less sodium, less saturated fat, less of this and that. But after 14 years working with cardiovascular patients, the pattern I see most often is not excess. It's deficiency.

Your arteries depend on a broad range of micronutrients to function. Not one or two. Many. And they need them consistently, in amounts that are adequate for your body specifically.

When those micronutrients are missing, the biological pathways that protect your arterial walls, regulate inflammation, support blood flow, and manage your lipid and homocysteine levels simply cannot do their job. No medication fills that gap. Only food, eaten strategically and consistently, does.

Your gut microbiome is part of this too. Even the right foods fall short when absorption and activation are compromised.

This is not about eating perfectly. It's about understanding what your cardiovascular system actually needs and building a plan around that, for your labs, your history, and your body.

That shift from taking away to intentionally building up is often what finally moves the needle for people who have been trying for years.

If you're ready to stop guessing and start adding with purpose, click the link for OPTIMIZE below. My 6-week group program starts July 10th and this is exactly what we focus on together. 💙 Waitlist members get access to a live lecture on June 25th wheere doors open with a special discount.

Most people know to watch their heart. Fewer think to check their legs.

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) affects the arteries that supply blood to your lower limbs. It can develop quietly alongside coronary artery disease, and in many cases, it shows up first. Yet it rarely comes up during a standard checkup unless you ask.

There's a simple, non-invasive test called the ankle-brachial index. Blood pressure cuffs on your arms and ankles, a quick calculation, and a clearer picture of what's happening in your arterial walls.

Signs that PAD may be worth screening for:
🦵 Leg cramping or heaviness during activity that eases with rest
🩹 Wounds on the feet or legs that heal slowly
🎨 Noticeable color changes in one or both limbs
💅 Slower nail or hair growth on one leg compared to the other
⚠️ Erectile dysfunction in men (a frequently missed cardiovascular signal)

Up to 40% of people with PAD have no symptoms at all. That statistic matters, because it means the absence of pain is not the same as the absence of risk.

If you have a family history of heart disease, elevated cardiovascular risk markers, or have already experienced a cardiac event, this test is worth requesting at your next appointment.

Your arteries don't give you a lot of warning. Proactive screening is how you stay ahead of it.

If you've been told you have peripheral artery disease, here's something important to understand.

PAD isn't just a circulation problem in your legs. It's a sign that atherosclerosis, the same process that drives heart attacks and strokes, is at work in your body. 🫀

When plaque is building up in your peripheral arteries, it's often developing elsewhere too. Your coronary arteries. Your carotid arteries. Your aorta. It deserves a whole-body response.

That's what makes a PAD diagnosis so valuable, even when it feels scary. It's your body giving you information. And information means you can act.

Swipe through to learn what PAD is, how it's detected, and what you can do about it through science-based nutrition.

❤️ She came to me with three goals.

Keep her aortic root dilation stable. Lower her LDL, ApoB, and small dense particles. And reduce her blood pressure enough to come off her medication.

Four months later, she achieved all three.

📊 November 2025 LDL particles: 2,173 nmol/L Small dense LDL: 432 nmol/L ApoB: 109 mg/dL Blood pressure: averaging 130s/80s Aortic root: 4.1 cm

📊 March 2026 LDL particles: 1,121 nmol/L (down 48%) Small dense LDL: 186 nmol/L (down 57%) ApoB: 90 mg/dL (down 17%) Blood pressure: 113/70, off medication completely Aortic root: 3.8 cm

Her doctor's response? No statin therapy needed at this time. Keep doing exactly what you're doing.

We didn't overhaul her life. We filled in the nutritional gaps her body had been signaling for years, with targeted, evidence-based strategies built around her specific labs and risk profile.

💬 "I feel so good. I can be with my grandchildren and enjoy my life. This is just part of my day-to-day now."

If you've been told there's nothing more you can do, that isn't the full picture.

Join my weekly email list, where I share the science-based nutrition strategies your doctor doesn't have time to explain: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/64cd30719b48101ef1dcf6e9

And if you want to learn the nuanced details behind results like these, the specific strategies that actually translate into your day-to-day, my 6-week group program Optimize is where we do exactly that. We go deep into the science, connect it to your labs and risk factors, and build a targeted nutrition plan that fits your real life. The next cohort starts July 10th, and waitlist members get access to a private bonus call on June 25th. Join the waitlist here: https://entirelynourished.com/group-coaching

It's here: my new cookbook!! 🎉 Simple Meal Solutions for High Blood Pressure is officially out today — and I have to be honest, this one means a lot to me.

In 14+ years as a cardiovascular dietitian, one thing has become undeniably clear: blood pressure responds incredibly well to science-based nutrition. I've helped so many people get their levels below 120/80 mmHg — and I wanted to make that same approach accessible to everyone.

So when I was approached to write this book, I said yes — even though it meant stepping back from new clients and shifting my entire focus. That's not something I take lightly, but it was worth every bit of it.

Because I've seen it happen over and over: clients on multiple medications, exhausted, frustrated — and once we shift their nutrition in a targeted, thoughtful way, everything changes.

✅ They get their energy back
✅ Their BP reaches below 120/80 mmHg
✅ Many reduce or come off medications entirely

And that's what I built this book around — to improve quality of life for more people.

I cook for a family of six, so I know meals need to be simple, realistic, and doable — even if you're busy or don't love cooking. This book meets you exactly where you are.

📚 Here is the link to my cookbook, so you can grab your copy — for yourself or someone you love: https://amzn.to/4eKmpOO

And to celebrate, I'm hosting a free virtual gathering on May 13th at 8:30pm EST exclusive to my email list. We'll talk blood pressure monitoring, walk through recipes, and you can bring all your questions. Casual, open, and I'd love to see you there! 💖
