We source most of our products ourselves from artisan distilleries around the world. Gardenia does not give up her scent lightly.

This Gardenia Enfleurage is created in Colombia from organically grown Gardenia fragrans using a gentle modern enfleurage process and certified-organic palm oil. It is not a solvent extraction, and no animal fat is used.

The result is sweet, delicate, unusual and unmistakably gardenia. It is made for perfumers, scent enthusiasts and anyone who simply loves the flower.

Some flowers are too delicate for distillation. For them, there's enfleurage — the gentle, old method our name comes from.

Fresh flowers are placed on plant-based oils, which slowly absorb their scent. The flowers are changed daily, before they wilt, for weeks or longer, until the oils hold the floral aroma. No animal fat is used.

Our enfleurage oils are produced in Colombia: Jasmine, Tuberose and Gardenia.

Jojoba looks and pours like an oil, but it is technically a liquid wax.

It comes from a shrub native to the hot, dry regions of Mexico, California and Arizona. It likes the heat, but it also needs water. Today, it is also grown in Jordan, Cyprus, Argentina, Peru and Australia.

Jojoba is non-greasy and very stable. Use it as a base or blend it in equal parts with sweet almond, coconut or apricot kernel oil.

It can also be used as a hair conditioner, after waxing or shaving, and as an ingredient in botanical balms.

You’ll find it in our White Flowers Pommade and our Frankincense and Myrrh Roll-On.

The aroma is in the peel.

Bergamot oil is pressed from the peel, not distilled. Ours is cold-pressed from the peel of nearly ripe, certified-organic fruit grown in Calabria, southern Italy.

Its aroma is green and citrusy, with a sharp, mouth-watering bite. Sweet, fresh, warm and clean, yet rich.

It blends beautifully with frankincense, geranium, jasmine, lavender, rose and sandalwood.

Hydrosols are the aromatic waters produced during botanical distillation.

As the essential oil separates from the water, the water-soluble aromatic components remain in the hydrosol. Gentler than essential oils, hydrosols can be incorporated into skincare as a toner or cooling mist. Certain hydrosols, including Lavender Water, can also be used as a fresh linen spray.

Our name comes from enfleurage, a traditional method of capturing a flower’s aroma.

Fresh blossoms rest on a solid bed of plant-based fat spread within a frame called a chassis. The flowers are replaced daily as the fat absorbs their scent. No animal fat is used in our enfleurage process.
