Our Delaware Palliative program is the first organization in Delaware to receive Joint Commission Certification. Since 1982, Delaware Hospice has been to provide quality care and comfort to its patients and families and to serve as a trusted community partner in end-of-life education and support. The Delaware Hospice team of healthcare professionals and certified volunteers enhance the quality of

life with a focus on quality medical care, pain and symptom management, and emotional and spiritual support. Delaware Hospice is the leading nonprofit hospice agency in Delaware and Pennsylvania and proudly holds accreditation by the Joint Commission. As a nonprofit organization, Delaware Hospice offers several programs to the community at no or little charge, including:
*New Hope for grieving children and teens;
*Delaware Transitions for seriously ill individuals who are not medically eligible for hospice or palliative care; and
*Grief Support Groups, which are open to anyone who is coping with loss. Delaware Hospice’s community outreach programs are made possible thanks to the generous donations of individuals and organizations, as well as through the efforts of committed and passionate volunteers, numbering 400 throughout the state of Delaware and southeast Pennsylvania. Our next Stellar Staff Spotlight is RN Mary Wessell! Mary is closing in on her third anniversary at Delaware Hospice in October.

She had a close personal experience with a family member receiving hospice care and wanted to be able to give others going through similar situations the same care and attention. She knew Delaware Hospice had an outstanding reputation in the community for providing top-tier end-of-life care, and wanted to be a part of our team.

“There are so many things I enjoy about my job. I love connecting with patients and families in my community, providing education to help them understand end-of-life processes and teaching caregivers to provide hands-on care for their loved ones.”

Away from work, Mary enjoys gardening, weightlifting, and being an aunt! She adores spending time with her partner Andrew and their pugs, Lonny, Tilly, and Mooney.

For years, the Coastal Corvette Club and i.g. Burton Lewes Automall have turned generosity into meaningful impact for Delaware Hospice.

The club recently presented us with an $8,400 donation from this year’s Corvette Extravaganza back in June. Over the past 10 years, they have raised more than $72,000 to support Delaware Hospice and the patients and families we serve.

We’re incredibly grateful for this longtime partnership and the difference these organizations continue to make in our community!

Last week, we welcomed members of the Delaware Healthcare Association to Milford for a tour of the Delaware Hospice Center.

We’re grateful for their time and interest in learning more about Delaware Hospice, the care we provide, and the ways we support patients and families throughout our community. We’re always happy to open our doors and share more about the heart behind what we do.

And…they picked a pretty great day to visit! One of our favorite therapy pups, Ari, was also on site, spreading plenty of joy throughout the building. 🐾💙
