We’re proud to spotlight Dr. Jyoti Mathad, Associate Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and Maternal & Fetal Medicine Consultant for the Global TB Institute, as she shares her expertise on TB and pregnancy in Easton, MD.

Her presentation at the What’s New in TB, STIs, HIV, Addictions, and Substance Use conference highlights the critical intersection of tuberculosis and maternal health, and the importance of advancing knowledge and care for pregnant patients affected by TB.

This 4-part webinar series will explore various aspects of TB in women, with a focus on reproductive health and pregnancy. The goal is to strengthen healthcare provider knowledge and skills and to develop a better understanding of the differences in presentation, diagnosis, impact, and treatment of TB infection and disease in women of reproductive age. The format includes lectures, TB survivor perspectives, case studies, and panel discussions.

We’re pleased to share a newly published article highlighting a collaboration between the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Global TB Institute:

“A Retrospective Survey of Patient Experiences During Hospital-Based Isolation for Tuberculosis in New York City.”

This work highlights the importance of understanding patients’ experiences during TB isolation and the value of strong public health partnerships in informing patient-centered approaches to TB care.

GTBI is pleased to announce our NEW TB Training Roadmap! This online tool is designed for program managers, supervisors, and coordinators responsible for onboarding and training staff working in TB prevention and care. The tool can be used to develop an individualized training plan, or Training Roadmap, for new staff including public health nurses, outreach workers, disease investigators, epidemiologists, and others.

After users answer a series of questions about the job roles/responsibilities of the new staff member, the tool generates a training plan with links to reliable, high-quality learning materials and additional resources. The Roadmap can be easily customized by adding state or local program tools, documents, and resources; deleting materials that aren’t relevant; and adding due dates, checkboxes to document completion, and fields for supervisor sign off.

The final product is a downloadable Word version of the training plan, which can be used to both guide the training process and to easily access a wide variety of TB training resources on a range of specific topics.
GTBI has also developed a short instructional video to demonstrate the features of the online tool, which can help users customize the Roadmap content for particular settings, staff members, and job roles. We encourage you to check out the TB Training Roadmap today!
