800 calories a day. Ten hours of cardio a week. And I still hated my stomach.

That's the part nobody talks about. I lost 50 pounds four separate times and even when the scale said I did it, I'd get out of the shower and there it was. Still soft. Still there. I'd get dressed without looking.

I thought I just needed to try harder. Eat less.
Do more.
For 30 years that's what I thought.

I was starving a body that had no muscle on it and wondering why it held onto everything.

At 57 I started eating. Really eating. Protein at every meal and heavy weights three days a week. The fat stayed off for the first time in my life.

I'm 62 and I eat more now than I did at 45.

Comment STRONG and I'll send you my Strength and Protein Guide so you know what to eat to lose the belly fat after 40.

I almost didn't post this.

Not because of the loose skin.

Because admitting it still bothers me felt harder than showing it.

This weekend I stepped onto the biggest stage of my life and placed third and fourth at Masters Nationals. At 62, I'm incredibly proud of that.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

I wanted to win.

The last couple of days I've been asking myself why that disappointment hit so hard.

It wasn't really about the placing.

It was about believing that if I worked hard enough, I could control the outcome.

Sometimes we can't.

Sometimes we do everything right, and life still doesn't hand us the result we hoped for.

The best part of the weekend wasn't standing on stage. It was meeting women who came up to me and said they follow my journey. They told me I inspire them.

Meanwhile, I was standing there thinking about the one thing I wish I could change.

Funny how we can become someone else's inspiration while struggling to see our own.

I'm going to keep chasing that pro card. I'm going to keep training, keep growing, and keep showing up.

But I'm done waiting for a trophy to tell me whether my journey matters.
Because only one woman gets to stand in the center.

There are thousands more standing in their kitchens, their gyms, and in front of their mirrors wondering if it's too late for them.

If watching my journey helps even one woman believe she still can...

That's bigger than a title.

Be number one in your own mind.
Then keep showing up.

Tell me... what part of this hit home for you? ❤️

They said I was too old at 57. Now I'm competing at 62. You CAN learn what's possible when you refuse to accept limitations

1 day from stepping on a national stage. At 62.
10 years ago I would have laughed if you told me this is what my 60s would look like.
Glad I was wrong.

Comment STRONG for my free Strength + Protein Guide.

Nobody warned me the good stuff was on the other side of 55. I spent my 40s and half my 50s assuming it was all winding down from here, so I quit expecting much.

Then I got strong and the whole thing cracked back open. The pool. The bikini. Spotting my husband on the bench.

Laughing in the car with the man I’ve had for 40 years. None of that is luck. It’s just what happens when you stop waiting for the right time and go get your body back.

Comment STRONG and I’ll send you my free Strength + Protein Guide.

Comment STRONG for my free Strength + Protein Guide.

You walk past the weight floor and head straight for the treadmill every time.
It feels safer.

You’ve never lifted, you’re scared you’ll hurt yourself, and part of you figures that chance passed you by years ago.

It didn’t.

I started at 57 having never really lifted. The thing that actually hurts you after 50 is losing the strength, not building it.

Comment STRONG and I’ll send you my free Strength + Protein Guide so you know exactly where to start, safe and simple.

Comment STRONG for my free Strength + Protein Guide.
For years I couldn’t stand how I looked, so I hid. I’d grab the camera at every party so I never had to be in front of it.
Ordered the salad.
Kept the cover-up on at the pool.
Told myself it was just getting older.
It wasn’t my age. It was that I’d quit taking care of me, and I couldn’t face the proof of it in a photo.
Comment STRONG and I’ll send you my free Strength + Protein Guide so next summer you’re the one in the water first, cover-up left in the bag
