We’ve all heard the myth: swallow a piece of gum, and it sits in your stomach for seven years. But is that true?
While your body can’t fully digest the gum base (similar to raw corn kernels or popcorn seeds), it doesn't stick to your stomach wall or linger around for years. Your digestive system simply moves it along the normal path, and it exits in your stool within a couple of days.
So, to answer the question, gum won't stay in your stomach for 7 years. It will pass like normal!
