When you think about summer, toxins probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind.
It’s sunshine, swimming, popsicles, and more time outside.
But summer can actually be one of the highest exposure seasons for kids.
Pools, sunscreen, plastics, pesticides, air quality…
Individually, they don’t seem like a big deal, but together, they add up.
And for kids with ADHD, that added load can actually exacerbate symptoms.
The good news, though, is that many of these are easy to reduce once you know what to look for.
Here are a few simple ways to start:
✔️ Rinse before and after swimming to reduce chlorine exposure
✔️ Choose a mineral sunscreen (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide)
✔️ Opt for cleaner, fragrance-free bug sprays when possible
✔️ Use stainless steel water bottles instead of plastic
✔️ Wash hands and rinse off after playing on grass or in dirt
✔️ Be mindful of air quality on high pollution days
