My Preservation Deep Plane Facelift technique is about preserving and repositioning the natural structures of the face rather than simply removing them.

I release the retaining ligaments and reposition the deeper facial tissues as a unit to restore a more youthful, natural contour. When appropriate, I also address the deeper structures of the neck, including the submandibular glands.

An important part of my approach is buccal fat preservation and repositioning. Instead of automatically removing the buccal fat, I can reposition it to help restore volume and support where the face needs it.

The goal is always the same: preserve, reposition, and restore natural facial harmony without changing who you are.

Not every patient needs buccal fat removal.

For my 49-year-old patient, preserving her natural facial volume was an important part of the surgical plan.
Rather than removing the buccal fat, I kept it and repositioned it to help restore balance and support where she needed it most.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give any surgeon is to study your own work.

As Da Vinci said, “You learn from your own work.”

Today, I’m testing a high-resolution head-mounted camera while performing a Preservation Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift on my 63 year old patient. While this technology can allow other surgeons around the world to securely observe and learn from my procedures, its greatest value to me is self-evaluation.
Being able to go back, study the smallest details, and ask myself, “What can I do even better next time?” is how I continue to grow as a surgeon.

No matter how many years you’ve been doing this, never stop learning, never stop studying your work, and never stop looking for ways to improve.

Not every second facelift is the same.

Revisional facial surgery is about addressing concerns or complications from a previous procedure. I typically recommend waiting about a year to allow the tissues to fully heal before considering revision surgery.

A redo facelift is different. This is often for patients who had a facelift 10-15 years ago and have naturally aged over time. In these cases, I may perform a Preservation Deep Plane Facelift, sometimes combined with fat grafting, a brow lift, or eyelid surgery for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

Every patient is different, and the right approach always starts with understanding their previous surgery, anatomy, and goals.
