Research is an important part of my field! So much of past information about Massage Therapy was really more like mythology. I hope this information is helpful and informative.

“Purpose: This study aimed to determine and compare the effect of myofascial release (MFR) and simulated MFR on the flexibility of the erector spinae muscles and thoracolumbar fascia utilizing sonoelastography in individuals with chronic low back pain.” Check out this article from the latest issue of International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: https://bit.ly/4dEtaAk

Today is Women's Equality Day! I take my right to vote seriously and I am grateful for the brave beings who fought for it.🪷

In 1973, Congresswoman Bella Abzug, one of just 16 women serving in the U.S. House of Representatives at the time, championed legislation designating August 26 as Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the certification of the 19th Amendment and women’s constitutional right to vote.

Women's Equality Day not only celebrates that certification, but is also a reminder that the pursuit of equality did not end with the 19th Amendment. Women’s Equality Day calls us to reflect on the progress that has been made and the work that remains to achieve full equality, including the ongoing effort to secure recognition of the Equal Rights Amendment.

By the way, as you can see, we have come a long way baby. 😉

Breakdown of Women in the House
Voting Representatives: 124 women
Percentage of Voting Seats: 28.5%
Non-Voting Delegates: 4 women (bringing the total female House membership to 128)
Total Women in Congress
U.S. Senate: 27 womenTotal
Congress (House + Senate): 151 voting members (or up to 155 including delegates)

I am reflecting on the joys and perils of spring!

After a snowy winter, spring is making itself known! The birds are singing and I heard a chorus of peepers (small tree frogs) recently. I see snowdrops, crocuses and chinodoxa popping up in my yard and at my office. My meditation practice encourages me to stop, look and observe. The world can be a ch...
