In a culture where everyone seems to be shrinking, choosing not to can be an act of resistance.
“Even when everyone is shrinking, I won’t let society convince me that I need to take up less space.”
Because changing your body doesn’t automatically change the way you see your body.
Body image isn’t just about size. It can be shaped by:
• comparison
• perfectionism
• unrealistic beauty standards
• constantly checking or criticizing your body
• believing you’ll finally feel “good enough” at a certain size
You can change the body and still carry the same thoughts with you.
You can reach the goal weight and still find another part of yourself to criticize.
So maybe the goal isn’t necessarily to become smaller.
Maybe it’s to stop believing your body has to change before you’re allowed to live, date, take up a hobby, get a new job, etc…
You are allowed to take up space.
