At Lord’s Legacy Life Ministries, our services are designed around the individual—not simply the program.

Through Adult Day Training, Community Supports, and Residential Services, we help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities build practical skills, engage in their communities, develop meaningful relationships, and experience greater independence.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

For many of our friends at LLM, time with dogs can be more than just fun. Whether it’s visiting an animal shelter, spending time with a family pet, or simply getting a few puppy cuddles, these moments can encourage connection, confidence, responsibility, and joy.

Dogs can help create opportunities to:

practice gentle interaction and communication
build routines through feeding, walking, and care
reduce stress and encourage calm
strengthen social connection
experience companionship and unconditional affection

For a participant, it may mean building confidence, learning a new skill, making more choices, or becoming more independent.

For a caregiver, it can mean having trusted support, encouragement, and a team that understands the responsibility they carry.

For a family, it can mean finding resources, community, and greater confidence about what comes next.

At Lord’s Legacy Life Ministries, we believe meaningful support should strengthen the whole circle around each participant. Some of the most meaningful growth happens in ordinary moments.

At LLM, a day may include practicing laundry, building a consistent tooth-brushing routine, moving through group exercise, creating something new, sharing a laugh during bingo, or choosing a meal during a community outing.

These are not simply ways to fill a schedule. Each moment creates a real opportunity to practice decision-making, communication, responsibility, confidence, and connection.

We meet each friend where they are, celebrate the progress already made, and continue providing the right support for the next step.

This is what purposeful support can look like: a full day designed to help each person experience a fuller life.

Strong communities are built by people who choose to notice, include, encourage, and serve.

Every day, our team has the privilege of walking alongside individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—celebrating progress, supporting new goals, creating opportunities, and making room for every person to belong.

This work is not about doing things for people.

It is about doing life with people.

It is staff members showing patience. Volunteers offering friendship. Local businesses opening doors. Families trusting us. Community members choosing inclusion.

Together, we are creating a community where every person is seen, valued, and equipped to thrive.

They deserve a place where they are known, valued, challenged, and encouraged to grow.

At Lord’s Legacy Life Ministries, our friends are building skills, developing confidence, forming meaningful relationships, and discovering new ways to contribute to their community.

These moments may look simple from the outside—a conversation, a completed task, a shared laugh, or a new experience—but they represent something much greater:

Inclusion does not always begin with a major program or a big initiative.

Often, it begins with the way we choose to see, welcome, and engage the people around us.

Here are five simple ways every community can support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities:
1. Smile and say hello.�Treat everyone like a neighbor.
2. Be patient.�Everyone communicates differently.
3. Invite participation.�Sometimes all someone needs is an invitation.
4. Celebrate abilities.�Focus on strengths before limitations.
5. Support organizations making a difference.�Local nonprofits help create opportunities, build community, and open doors for people to thrive.
