Happy Spiritual Care Week!

Caring for the whole person includes caring for the spirit. During Spiritual Care Week, we recognize the chaplains and bereavement specialists who help patients and families navigate difficult conversations, process grief, find meaning, and experience moments of peace throughout their hospice journey.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our Hospice Chaplains, John, Jeff, and Terry, for the compassionate support they provide to patients and families each day. Their ability to meet people where they are, offering comfort, guidance, and a listening ear, makes a meaningful difference during some of life's most challenging moments.

In addition to supporting those we serve, they are invaluable members of our hospice team, providing encouragement, wisdom, and collaboration as we work together to deliver exceptional care.

Thank you, John, Jeff, and Terry, for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to caring for the spiritual and emotional needs of those entrusted to us. We are grateful for all that you do! ❤️💙💛

Today we had the privilege of honoring Gerald, a Korean War Veteran, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Family members reflected on stories Gerald had shared with them over the years. They shared how he often said he fought for a country he had never truly known, yet proudly answered the call to serve. During his time in the military, he was asked to take on a role that introduced him to work he would go on to enjoy throughout his career. His service also led to friendships that remain meaningful to this day.

As stories and memories were shared, we were reminded not only of Gerald's service and sacrifice, but also of the relationships, experiences, and purpose that shaped his life.

We are grateful for Gerald's service to our country and honored to celebrate him alongside those who know and love him best. Thank you, Gerald, for your service, your sacrifice, and your legacy.

On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we're highlighting the important role hospice and palliative care play in helping patients and families navigate serious illness.

Both hospice and palliative care focus on comfort, quality of life and support, helping patients receive care that aligns with their goals and wishes. Palliative care can begin at diagnosis and alongside treatment. Hospice care is typically chosen when treatment is no longer working or a patient decides to stop curative treatment for a terminal illness, shifting the focus to comfort, quality of life and support for both the patient and their loved ones.

💗 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗

At AseraCare Hospice, we join communities across the country in recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month and encouraging everyone to prioritize their health. Breast cancer impacts approximately 1 in 8 women during their lifetime, and regular screenings can help detect cancer before symptoms appear, when treatment may be most effective.

✨ A gentle reminder: You cannot pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is not selfish, it's essential. Your health matters. Your well-being matters. You matter.

This month, schedule that screening, encourage a loved one to do the same, and take a moment to prioritize your own care.

💕 "Taking care of yourself is one of the most important ways you can take care of those you love."
