American Legion Post 88 We provide FREE professional assistance to veterans in obtaining benefits from the VA. servicemen and women. We are veterans helping veterans and their families.

The American Legion is the nation’s largest and most powerful organization that works every day on behalf of all U.S. We provide free professional assistance to veterans in obtaining benefits from the VA and other government agencies. Our Service Officers assist veterans in filing claims for VA compensation, pension and death benefits and many other programs. We are a tax exempt 501(c)(19) Veteran

Since its inception by an act of Congress in 1919, The American Legion has delivered substantial assistance for veterans, families and communities. The Legion ushered in the modern VA, drafted and sponsored the GI Bill and the Post 9/11 GI Bill and brought into existence dozens of health-care benefits for veterans and their families. Post 88 provides access to these services locally in Norman, Oklahoma.

On Memorial Day, Monday May 25th, 4 members of Post 88 were on hand to assist Boy Scout Troop 217 with laying over 900 United States of America flags at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Norman.
Attending from Post 88 were Eric Grubbs, Eileen Kupper-Grubbs, Suzanne Ashmore and Doug Sherbourne.

On Sunday, May 24, 4 members of Post 88 were on hand to attend the Flag-Laying Ceremony at Warren Cemetery: Eileen Kupper-Grubbs 2nd Vice Commander, Eric Grubbs Adjutant, Don Hunter Chaplain, and Suzanne Ashmore 1st Vice Commander. Over 100 American Flags were placed at the graves of veterans. Brayden Nichols of Norman High was the bugler - playing TAPS as the ceremony began. Chaplain Don Hunter delivered the invocation and Warren Cemetery official Larry Meyers gave a short speech concerning the devotion and service of all the veterans currently buried at the cemetery. Color Guard of the Norman Police Department were also present as were many, many individuals who had loved one buried at Warren.

On Friday, May 22, 3 members of American Legion Post 88 were on hand at the Press & Plow Restaurant in Norman to distribute poppies in remembrance of those who have fallen in war. They were Suzanne Ashmore, Eileen Kupper-Grubbs and Eric Grubbs.
