Some of our hives and a friend’s hive after the storms last night and heavy rains. More storms tonight! Hope we miss them.

When it gets hot and humid out, bees will leave the inside of the hive to help reduce excess heat that each bee produces. Bees like the internal temperature to be around 92-97 degrees- warmer than that they spread water and fan it to cool the hive but also they will hang outside the front waiting for things to cool down. This is called “bearding” and does not mean the hive is going to swarm.

Yesterday the skies were cloudy with rain threatening. The bees were super busy trying to bring in their last loads of pollen and nectar.
Turn the sound up and you can hear the buzzz.
