Driscoll’s is the world’s largest strawberry company. Neighboring communities, clean food activists, and a whistleblower from the inside say that Driscoll’s berries are grown without soil in an excessive amount of plastic, carry pesticide residues at levels banned in other countries, and are contaminated with PFAS forever chemicals and microplastics.

Major food brands have started integrating molecularly identical lab-grown foods into mainstream products.

The rise of 'lab-grown' food is hitting mainstream grocery shelves. And despite what you may have read on social media, it’s not a secret.

The move is driven by FDA-cleared innovations. And far from secretly serving bioengineered ingredients to oblivious customers, brands like Starbucks, Breyers, and Nestlé have publicly tested, issued informational press releases, and launched products utilizing precision fermentation.

For example, Unilever's Breyers recently introduced its Lactose-Free Chocolate ice cream nationwide, replacing traditional cow's milk with animal-free whey protein that matches the exact molecular structure of dairy. Similarly, Starbucks has conducted limited-market trials of fermented milk in Seattle, while Nestlé has aggressively expanded its cellular agriculture portfolio through startup partnerships and fermented whey integration.

Because these molecularly identical proteins are legally cleared and FDA-approved, they do not require a 'lab-grown' warning label. Instead, consumers wanting to identify these sustainable options must inspect packaging for specific phrasing like 'animal-free whey protein' or 'non-animal whey'.

Despite initial consumer hesitation and viral social media skepticism, proponents point out that the technology is highly sustainable, with precision-fermented whey reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 97% compared to traditional dairy production. I love it when the news is good…

Mexico’s push to ban genetically modified corn and eliminate glyphosate ignited a major international trade war with the U.S.

Mexico attempted to chart a path toward food independence by phasing out the use of the herbicide glyphosate and transitioning away from genetically modified (GM) corn.

Historically, the nation has relied heavily on millions of tonnes of imported GM corn, primarily from the United States, to meet its agricultural needs. However, growing concerns over public health, ecological biodiversity, and the preservation of irreplaceable native heirloom corn varieties prompted Mexican leadership to launch aggressive regulatory actions.

In a historic move, a constitutional amendment was enacted to permanently ban the cultivation of GM corn, asserting the country’s sovereign right to protect its agricultural heritage from genetic contamination.

This environmental and cultural stance sparked intense friction under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). In late 2024, a dispute panel ruled that Mexico's import restrictions lacked sufficient scientific basis, forcing adjustments to allow certain GM imports to avoid massive trade retaliations.

Despite these legal and economic pressures from its northern neighbor, Mexico remains resolute in protecting its domestic soil from GM cultivation and phasing out chemical weedkillers. The world is catching up. The Steiner school system has been quietly leading the way.

Norway has just banned generative AI from primary schools. Screens are being replaced with printed textbooks.

Smartphones have been out of Norwegian schools since 2024.

The results? Studies have shown an improvement in student grades, a significant decline in playground and digital bullying, and a 60% drop in visits to psychological specialists for anxiety and mental health support.

In Steiner classrooms, this has been our practice for seventy years. Screens introduced late, thoughtfully, and only when developmentally appropriate. Not because we were against technology but because we were watching what unchecked technology was doing to childhood.

The nerves of the cl****is have been mapped.

Researchers in Amsterdam have created the first detailed 3D map of the nerves running through the cl****is, revealing anatomy that traditional dissections had missed – nearly 30 years after scientists mapped the p***s.

Using extremely powerful synchrotron X-rays, the team scanned the pelvises of two women who had donated their bodies to science and reconstructed the nerves at microscopic resolution.

What they saw challenged older anatomical descriptions.

The main sensory pathway, called the dorsal nerve of the cl****is, had often been described as gradually tapering away as it reached the g***s.

Instead, the scans revealed large nerve trunks continuing into the g***s and splitting into an elaborate tree-like network close to its surface. Five major nerve trunks could be followed through the tissue, with individual trunks measuring up to about 0.7 millimeters across.

Researchers also found branches extending beyond the g***s into the cl****al hood and mons p***s, while another nerve supplied areas around the cl****al body and l***a.

That matters for much more than anatomy textbooks.

A precise map could help surgeons avoid damaging sensory nerves during pelvic procedures, gender-affirming surgery and reconstructive operations following female ge***al mutilation.

The research also highlights a striking gap in medical science. Detailed sensory anatomy of the pe**le g***s has been documented for decades, while the cl****al g***s remained comparatively understudied.

There are important limitations.

The study examined only two postmenopausal donors, so researchers cannot yet assume every person has exactly the same nerve pattern. And the work has not yet undergone peer review.

Go paperless they said…

We were told a paperless society would help save the planet. So we went digital. And it’s destroying the world.

Mail consumes paper. But data centers consume water, heat the air, and pollute entire ecosystems. Exchanging the former for the latter was the wrong choice.

For decades, the global push to 'go paperless' was hailed as the ultimate environmental victory, promising to save trees and reduce waste. However, the physical reality of the digital world is far from clean.

Modern data centers—the steel-and-concrete giants housing the servers for our cloud storage, streaming services, and artificial intelligence programs—have become some of the most resource-intensive facilities on Earth. To prevent thousands of high-powered servers from overheating, these facilities rely on massive cooling systems that consume staggering amounts of water and energy, effectively trading one environmental cost for another.

This digital footprint is quickly outpacing traditional manufacturing impacts, causing severe strain on local ecosystems.

Unlike paper, which is renewable and biodegradable, the electronic components powering our digital lives require intensive rare-metal mining and massive power generation that fuels carbon emissions.

When data centers utilize evaporative cooling, up to 85% of the water consumed evaporates and is permanently lost to the local watershed, leaving nearby communities to face depleted aquifers and contaminated runoff. The illusion of a 'weightless' digital world has shattered, forcing a critical reevaluation of what it truly means to be environmentally sustainable.
