Your nervous system may be shifting into survival mode. When stress feels too big, we often respond with one of four patterns:
• Fight – becoming reactive, defensive, or controlling
• Flight – anxiety, avoiding, or constantly escaping discomfort
• Freeze – feeling stuck, isolated, or unable to decide what to do next
• Fawn – people-pleasing, over-accommodating, or putting others' needs first
These responses aren't character flaws—they're protective strategies your brain and body use when they perceive threat. Awareness is the first step toward responding with intention rather than survival.
