Do you feel confident that you truly understand your risk for heart disease? ❤️

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, yet many people aren’t given the time, education, or comprehensive assessment they need to understand their individual risk.

At Whole Heart Family Medicine, we believe prevention should be proactive—not something we address only after disease develops.

That means looking beyond the standard conversation about “lifestyle” and helping you understand the factors that can influence your cardiovascular health, including insulin resistance, ApoB, Lp(a), cholesterol, blood pressure, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and more.

Our transition to a hybrid care model allows us to spend more time with our patients—time to ask better questions, order appropriate testing, explain your results, and give you specific, actionable tools to improve your health.

You shouldn’t have to figure it all out on your own. Prevention is possible, and it starts with understanding your risk.

You can’t out-exercise or out-supplement a consistently poor diet.

While movement, sleep, stress management, and supplements can all play a role in our health, nutrition is foundational. The foods we eat regularly can have a meaningful impact on our health and well-being over time.

That doesn’t mean you need to eat perfectly. Enjoying fast food, dessert, or your favorite treat occasionally is part of a balanced approach to nutrition. Instead, focus on making nutrient-dense, whole foods the foundation of your diet most of the time.

Think 80/20—not perfection. 🤍

Small, consistent choices add up, and healthy eating should be something you can sustain for life.

Your cholesterol story is bigger than a single number. 🫀

When it comes to LDL cholesterol, what matters isn’t just how high it is today—it’s how high it has been and for how long.

Think of it as cumulative exposure over time. The longer your arteries are exposed to elevated LDL, the greater the potential impact.

That’s why knowing your cholesterol history and addressing elevated levels early can be so important for long-term heart health.

🧬 Your genes are not your destiny.

A family history of high cholesterol, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, or other chronic conditions can tell us something about your risk—but it doesn’t necessarily determine your future.

Genetics are just one piece of the puzzle. Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, environment, and other lifestyle factors can all influence health outcomes over time.

At Whole Heart Family Medicine, we believe your health story is about more than your genes. Understanding your risk empowers you to be proactive about your health. ❤️

What can you do today to support the future you want for your health?

Yes! Optimal health is not just physical. It is emotional, psychological, and spiritual. You can look healthy on the outside but still be unhappy or overwhelmed with stress. Where are you prioritizing joy as part of your health plan?

Play, joy, and love are biological necessities, and the science is unambiguous. 🧬

Laughter lowers cortisol and epinephrine, crying releases built-up nervous system tension, hugging shifts you out of fight-or-flight and into calm, singing stimulates the vagus nerve (which governs your heart rate, digestion, and immune response) and dancing actually promotes the growth of new brain cells.

These aren’t fringe concepts, this is your physiology responding to joy in real time.

We’ve built entire industries around optimizing food, sleep, and exercise, and those things matter deeply, but joy, play, and love belong in that same conversation.

Think of them as part of your health stack — non-negotiable, not optional, and available to you right now.

Joy IS health.
