Compassionate care for every step of your parenting journey. Does Having a Doula Really Make a Difference?

The research says YES.

A recent study published in the *American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AJOG)* found that families who received doula support experienced improved outcomes for both mothers and babies.

✨ Higher rates of successful VBACs
✨ Increased exclusive breastfeeding
✨ Fewer preterm births
✨ Better postpartum follow-up care

These findings aren't surprising to us. When mothers feel supported, informed, and empowered, they are better equipped to navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with confidence.

At Mother's Helper, Lin Cook has been serving Lowcountry families since 1988 as South Carolina's first doula. With decades of experience as a birth doula, postpartum doula, Bradley Method® instructor, and IBCLC lactation consultant, she provides compassionate, personalized support every step of the way.

Birth is more than bringing a baby into the world-it's the beginning of a new family story. Having experienced support can make all the difference. ❤️

🍼 Where do mothers pump when they return to work?

A recent photo series highlighted something many people never think about: the spaces where breastfeeding mothers spend hours expressing milk after returning to work. Some rooms are comfortable and welcoming. Others are makeshift spaces tucked away in closets, storage rooms, or industrial areas.

These images are a powerful reminder that breastfeeding isn’t just something that happens at home. For many mothers, it means balancing work responsibilities, pumping schedules, milk storage, and the emotional challenge of being away from their baby.

✨ There’s a reason more families are choosing doula support during pregnancy and birth. ✨

A doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support throughout labor and delivery — helping families feel more confident, calm, and supported every step of the way. 🤍

Research has shown that having a doula may help:
• Reduce the likelihood of interventions
• Lower cesarean rates
• Shorten labor
• Improve birth satisfaction
• Increase confidence for both mom and partner
• Provide encouragement and comfort during labor and postpartum recovery

At Mother’s Helper, families are supported by Lin Cook-South Carolina’s first doula-with over 30 years of experience serving mothers throughout pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. ✨

Whether you’re planning your first baby or hoping for a different experience this time around, we would love to walk alongside you.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Because of their sacrifice, we are able to raise our children in freedom, gather with the people we love, and experience the everyday moments that matter most. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend-it is a reminder of the incredible courage, selflessness, and sacrifice made by so many families.

At Mother’s Helper, we are especially grateful for the military mothers, fathers, and families who have carried both the weight of service and the responsibility of caring for those they love. We remember those who never made it home, and we honor the legacy they left behind.

May we never take their sacrifice for granted. ❤️🤍💙

Short answer: No.

The Bradley Method® focuses on understanding labor and birth as a natural process and preparing for a low-intervention experience when safely possible.

But the goal is not a specific outcome.

The goal is preparation.

In Bradley® classes, families learn:
• how labor and birth work
• how to stay relaxed and focused
• how to support one another
• how to ask informed questions

And here’s what we see, again and again:

When families are well prepared, the skills work.

So well, in fact, that most mothers choose to have a natural birth—not because they have to, but because they feel capable, supported, and ready.

We know it can happen.
We see it every day.

And if something unexpected arises, that preparation still matters.

Families are better equipped to understand what is happening and make decisions with confidence.

A healthy mother.
A healthy baby.
An informed, supported family.

That is always the priority.

🤍 Every bag tells a story. Every ounce makes a difference. 🤍

Today on World Human Milk Donation Day, we celebrate the incredible mothers who choose to give the gift of nourishment, healing, and hope to babies in need. ✨

Human milk donation helps support premature and medically fragile infants when their own mothers’ milk is unavailable. What may seem like “extra” milk to one family can truly be lifesaving to another.

This beautiful act of generosity is a reminder that motherhood has always been rooted in community, compassion, and caring for one another. 💕

A special thank you to the amazing donors who pour so much love into every donation. Your kindness reaches farther than you may ever know. 🥹🤍
