What does knee stability actually mean?

For many people, it starts with the quadriceps muscles.

After a knee injury, surgery, or even significant swelling, the quadriceps can become less effective at supporting the knee. Before a muscle gets stronger, it often has to relearn how to fire properly.

That's why Brooke's first exercise is a simple quad set. The progression then moves from muscle activation to greater stability and strength through increasingly challenging positions.

Watch Brooke, DPT, OCS, demonstrate three exercises that can help you build a stronger foundation for knee stability, from non-weight-bearing activation to a wall sit.

Give these exercises a shot and see if they help you identify any side-to-side differences in knee stability or control.

One of the most valuable parts of workshops like this is the ability to ask honest questions and get thoughtful, realistic answers from experienced professionals.

At a recent Hathaletics workshop, Dr. Thoms answered questions about arthritis, regenerative medicine, PRP, stem cells, and the current realities (and limitations) of joint preservation treatments and long-term joint health.

If conversations like this interest you (or you're just looking for a uniquely supported travel opportunity), there is still time to join Dr. Thoms and his wife, Kate, in Provence this July through Hathaletics.

Recovering from a SLAP repair with Dr. Wei… and apparently recovering from anesthesia at the same time. 😅

This patient has dealt with repeated shoulder dislocations for years and is now working through rehab after labral repair surgery - with plenty of running commentary along the way.

Thankfully, the shoulder is stabilizing faster than the thoughts are.

Glad to see the recovery process hasn’t affected his sense of humor.

What patients remember most isn’t always just the surgery.

It’s feeling heard.
Feeling prepared.
And getting back to living normally again.

One of the things we hear most often from Dr. Green’s patients is how comfortable and informed they felt throughout the process. Knowing your questions are being answered clearly and feeling genuinely cared for can make a difficult season feel a little less overwhelming.

Every recovery story is a reminder of how meaningful personalized care can be.

How simple could it be for you to feel better?

Dr. Pantuosco explains the M.I.L.D. procedure (Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression), a minimally invasive treatment option for certain patients with lumbar spinal stenosis.

Using a very small incision, the procedure removes small amounts of thickened ligament and bone that may be putting pressure on spinal nerves, often in about 15–20 minutes.

Many patients go home the same day and are up walking the next day with just a couple steri-strips on their back.

Did you know that white, wrinkly skin you sometimes see after taking a bandage off has a name?

It’s called maceration, and it’s a sign the wound may be too moist.

Proper moisture balance is one of the key elements in wound care.

Amy walks through how to manage the balance between too dry and too wet, along with the other factors that support effective healing for open cuts.

Small changes like this can make a noticeable difference in how an injury heals.

Save this for next time you’re dealing with a cut or scrape.

We’re grateful to have you on the team, Liam.

Over time, Dr. Thoms has noticed a pattern.

Patients who are physically prepared don’t always recover the best.
Patients who are mentally prepared often do.

His conclusion:
Mental preparation comes first. Physical preparation comes second.

Why does this matter?

Mental preparation isn’t just about attitude. It directly influences stress, pain perception, and recovery progress.

Research continues to show that patients who are mentally prepared tend to have lower stress, better pain tolerance, and more consistent recovery progress.
