Every birth has its own story, one that a mother carries with her and, in time, passes down.
This mom shared something really special with me. Her own mother kept a pregnancy and birth journal, and during her pregnancy, she would read through it as her own journey unfolded. When labor started, she realized how similar it felt to her mom’s experience, and it’s almost like she wasn’t doing it alone.
When I joined her at the hospital, there was this quiet feeling in the room. You could sense her mother’s presence. Not in a big, dramatic way, just soft and steady. It was there.
This amazing mother was so strong, so grounded, and incredibly positive the whole time. She wore a necklace made from her mother’s ashes, and as she started pushing, she noticed it felt tight around her skin. Instead of discomfort, she took it as a sign that her mom was right there with her, helping her bring her baby into the world.
And on her arm, she has her mom’s handwriting tattooed: “And don’t forget to laugh.” A simple reminder, but it meant everything in that moment.
This birth was more than beautiful. It was a full circle of love, memory, and strength. The kind of story you don’t just witness, but feel.
Congratulations to this lovely family ❤🎉🎈
