Rhode Island lawmakers are funding Medicaid increases in the state budget! ๐Ÿšจ

Legislative leaders have proposed funding 100% of a rate increase for services for people with disabilities.

Itโ€™s an investment in the state we want to be.

Thank you to Speaker Blazejewski, Senate President Lawson, Chairman Abney, Senator Lou DiPalma, State Representative Katherine Kazarian, Senate Majority Leader Ciccone and State Rep Evan Shanley for your leadership.

The budget still has steps to go. It needs to pass the House and Senate before being signed by the Governor. Letโ€™s get this done! ๐Ÿ’ช

He is the fastest amputee runner in the world.

This is Richard Whitehead.

At 27, he ran in his first marathon. He finished in 5 hours, 19 minutes.

Now, at 49, he beat his own World Record for the fastest marathon by a double amputee. Finishing in just 2 hours, 40 minutes.

Oh and by the way, he once completed 40 marathons in 40 days and has two Paralympic gold medals.

Well done, Richard! ๐Ÿ‘

Please join us in congratulating Grace Duffy!

Grace has been with us for three years, starting as an intern and quickly proving the value she brings to the team. During her time, our impact on laws and policy has grown a lot.

As the Policy & Outreach Manager, Grace talks with lawmakers, empowers advocates and works on community projects.

Thank you, Grace! We are lucky to have you. ๐Ÿ’š

Look at what this community can do. ๐Ÿ’ช

Over 300 advocates showed up at the State House to fund Health and Human Services for Rhode Islanders.

Advocates met with lawmakers, shared stories and reminded everyone that community services must be funded.

This is what showing up looks like. So proud of this community. ๐Ÿ’š

A huge thank you to Senator Lou DiPalma and State Rep Evan Shanley for standing by our side today.

โ€œYour son has autism.โ€

Patrick was four. It was the day after his birthday.

Then came the running.

His parents had no handbook. But they had each other and a community that showed up.

Today, Patrickโ€™s journey inspires a walk that helps thousands of people with autism imagine their future.

This is life after an autism diagnosis. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

THIS is what community looks like!

3,000+ people came together for The Autism Project's 24th
Annual Imagine Walk to raise awareness and funding for autism.

Families. Friends. Neighbors. All here, all in.

Because people with autism belong in every space, every conversation and every community. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Rhode Island showed up on the national stage!

ANCOR hosts the nation's largest conference for disability services.

Our members werenโ€™t just in the room, they were leading some of the conversations.

So proud to be a small part of this community. Progress happens when we show up, together. ๐Ÿ’š

The Rhode Island State House can be confusing.

Parking, security and a maze of hallways.

But it shouldnโ€™t be. Laws that affect our state are made here!

So we created a solution. ๐Ÿ‘‡

This is your tour of the Rhode Island State House. So you can advocate confidently.

๐Ÿ“ธ LOOK: The State House is green for Developmental Disabilities Awarness Month.

A powerful reminder of the progress the disability community has made.

Thanks to advocates, Rhode Island is becoming a place where accessibility isnโ€™t just an idea, but a reality.

Thank you to John E. Fogarty Foundation for making this lighting happen every year. ๐ŸŸข

You can catch the State House shining green through March 25.
