IRL Alert! 🔔✨

This past weekend, Dr. Nicole Ramos, PT teamed up with Pilates expert and studio owner Gretchen Wagoner for an incredible seminar on preparing for and navigating the transition through menopause. 💪🌸

From estrogen and bone health to pelvic floor function and strength training, the conversation covered some of the most important topics women should understand during this stage of life. Attendees also shared their own personal experiences, adding powerful real-life perspectives to the evidence and education presented throughout the seminar. 🫶

And if you haven’t checked out Breathe Pilates Miami yet… consider this your sign. 👀 Their studio offers expert-led, effective Pilates programming in a welcoming and empowering environment, and we can’t recommend it enough. ✨

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at IPT 💐

Today, we’re especially excited to welcome back Dr. Jenny Gores from maternity leave. We are so lucky to have her back leading our teams and caring for patients with the same compassion, intelligence, and heart she brings to everything she does.

And to Jenny — we hope your very first Mother’s Day as Lily’s mom is filled with beautiful memories, lots of joy, and a few quiet moments to soak it all in. 🤍

To all of the incredible mothers in the IPT family — our team members, patients, and community — thank you for the strength, care, patience, and love you give every single day. Wishing you all a Mother’s Day filled with appreciation and celebration. ✨

Meet our newest PT at IPT 👀

Dr. Alex Jones, PT, DPT 📚

Astrology: ♉️ Ta**us
Alma Mater: 🎓 Milligan University (aka where he also played collegiate basketball 🏀)
💪 Clinical Love: ankles… yes, specifically ankles
📚 Currently leveling up with dry needling skills labs + sport-specific training (basketball, obviously)
🏈 Bonus personality trait: diehard Tennessee Volunteers fan — his closet is basically a shrine to orange and white 🧡

Green flags ✅ :
• Will fix your ankle and your jump shot
• Has strong opinions about game day
• Loyal, competitive, and quietly a nerd about movement

Favorite success story:
Helped an American Gladiators contestant go from a tibial plateau fracture + torn MCL… to completing an Ironman in under a year 😳

So yeah — if your ankle has been acting up, or you just want someone who understands athletes and obsesses over the details… Alex is your guy.

Drop a 🧡 if you’re team orange & white… or if you’re just here for elite ankle rehab.

Meet Dr. Monica Gil 💫

Astrology Sign: Aquarius ♒️ (so you already know she’s equal parts brilliant and slightly unpredictable)
Alma mater: Chapman University, CA 🎓
Favorite sport: Basketball 🏀 (will outshoot you, respectfully)
Hobbies: Rock climbing, skydiving, drawing, watching UFC 🤷‍♀️
Fav body part to treat: “I don’t discriminate… but neuro has my heart” 🧠
Current crush (aka continuing ed goal): Pelvic Floor specialization

Biggest green flag ✅ (but like… the really good kind):
“I helped a patient with a traumatic brain injury go from not walking… to walking with a walker and contact guard assist. It was super satisfying.” Yeah. Let that sit for a second.

Off the clock?
You’ll find Dr. Monica exploring Miami’s food + coffee scene ☕️, staying active (rock climbing, scuba, strength training), or deep in a podcast/book learning something new. She brings that same curiosity, compassion, and “let’s figure this out together” energy into every session.

Looking for:
Patients who want to get better, work hard, and maybe laugh a little along the way.

Welcome to the team, Monica 🤍

KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID ⚡️

We learned it in grade school and it still holds true! 🤓

In this video, IPT’s founder, physical therapist Craig Cohen, explains how a simple Bridge exercise can be a potent rehab intervention for low back pain. It’s not flashy or glamorous, but it WORKS. 💪🏼

🏋🏻‍♀️ Shoulder pain is a B%&@! You increase the pounds on your overhead press only to feel a sharp pinch! ⚡️ What do you do you now?

Well, you’re probably going to want to strengthen your rotator cuff to start. It’s not just for bros hitting the bench press. The rotator cuff is the key stabilizer that keeps your shoulder in its socket and balanced during overhead lifts. When it doesn’t fire well, it messes up the joint mechanics of your shoulder and can lead to pain or injury!

📊 In overhead sports like baseball and tennis, shoulder injuries are highly prevalent — with shoulder pain and overuse issues reported in a significant portion of these athletes, especially players performing repetitive overhead motions. In baseball alone, up to ~17% of all injuries occur in the shoulder due to repetitive throwing stresses.

👉 Swipe through to see 2 rotator cuff strengthening exercises that can help build stability, support overhead strength work, and protect you from pain.

🔥 Strong rotator cuff means stronger overhead performance (and fewer ouchies 😅)! And as always, if the self-help videos aren’t cutting it, go see your friendly neighborhood physical therapists for hands-on, skilled care. 😉

There’s no denying it! Running is AWESOME for so many aspects of our health. Whether you are running for heart health or mental health, it’s worth mentioning that running can be one of the most common sources of knee pain 🏃‍♀️🦵

Choose your “hard,” am I right?

Nearly 1 in 2 runners will experience a running-related injury each year, and the knee is the most frequently affected joint. Common conditions like runner’s knee, IT band irritation, and patellar tendon pain don’t come from running itself. They usually come from how your body is managing load. 🔗 Kinetic chain and all that.

If you are running to stay healthy, give some of these exercises a try. Want to see more content on running health? Let us know in the comments!
