Do Not Throw Away Your ANOC

Your Annual Notice of Change may look like just another piece of insurance mail, but it contains information you should review before Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period.

Look for changes involving:

Monthly premiums and other costs
Prescription coverage
Copays and benefits
Doctors, hospitals and pharmacies
Your plan’s service area

Receiving an ANOC does not automatically mean you need a new plan. It simply gives you the information needed to determine whether your current coverage will continue to meet your needs.

Your Annual Notice of Change Is Coming

If you have a Medicare Advantage or prescription drug plan, watch your mail for an Annual Notice of Change, also called an ANOC.

This document explains changes to your plan for the coming year, including coverage, costs, prescription drug coverage, provider networks and other important details.

When it arrives, keep it somewhere safe. You do not need to make an immediate decision, but you'll want to have it available when it's time to review your coverage.

For now, simply keep it with your other Medicare information.

One of the questions we hear most often is:

"Do I have to change my Medicare plan every year?"

The answer is:

Not necessarily.

If your doctors, prescriptions, healthcare needs, and current coverage are still meeting your needs, you may not need to make any changes.

Annual Enrollment isn't about switching plans.

It's about taking a few minutes to review your coverage and making sure it's still the right fit for the year ahead.

Sometimes the best decision is keeping the plan you already have.

The important thing is understanding your options so you can make an informed decision with confidence.

At NPF Benefits, our goal is to provide clear, unbiased guidance so you can choose what's best for you, whether that's making a change or staying right where you are.

Don't throw it away.

Even if you don't read it right away, keep it with your Medicare paperwork so it's available when you need it.

We'll explain more about the ANOC in the coming weeks.

Is your Medicare plan still the right fit?

One of the biggest misconceptions about Medicare is that you should change plans every year.

That's not true.

If your medications, doctors, healthcare needs, and preferred pharmacy haven't changed and your current plan is still meeting your needs, you may not need to make any changes.

But if something has changed, it's worth understanding whether your Medicare coverage still fits your situation.

The goal isn't to switch plans.

It's to make informed decisions with confidence.

If you have questions about your Medicare coverage, NPF Benefits is here to help

Life changes and your Medicare needs can change too.

Think back over the past year.

Have you:

• Started a new prescription?
• Changed doctors?
• Been diagnosed with a new condition?
• Begun seeing a specialist?
• Switched pharmacies?

Even small changes can affect which Medicare plan best fits your needs.

Taking a few minutes now to review what's changed can make your Medicare review much more productive this fall.

Questions about your options?

Don't throw away letters from Medicare or your insurance company.

Over the next few months, you may receive important information about:

• Changes to your current plan
• Prescription drug coverage
• Provider networks
• Annual notices

You don't need to understand every page right away.

Simply keep these letters together in a folder or safe place so they're available when it's time to review your Medicare coverage.

A little organization now can make your Medicare review much easier this fall.

If you receive a notice you don't understand, we're happy to help explain it.
